Careful around the war memorials at the north end of the trails; I was approached by ex military type who had a knife around his neck. Scary to say the least...

Out of all the parks with walking trails in Gainesville this one is my favorite. I love the scenery at Wilshire Trails, from the small stream, to the covered bridges and the wildlife. Some areas can be difficult to navigate a stroller over or a wheel chair but usually there is an alternate break away trail that goes around the parts that are difficult to navigate. Part of the Planetary Walk is located within Wilshire, unfortunately many of the planets have been destroyed by vandalism. It is a great park to take photographs, the Autumn months are especially beautiful for photography. The playground area for kids is normally in great condition and clean, and as to be expected, very busy with families.

Every year community groups purchase cases of live butterflies to be released from individual envelopes by children of all ages. This park hosts the release, and provides entertainment for the entire family. they even have clean public restrooms and pavilion grills. There is a small fee to reserve the pavilion.

This is a well maintained park that is a section of the Rock Creek Greenway. This park includes paved and/or wooden walking paths, 2 covered bridges, state of the art childrens play ground, restrooms and 2 pavillions (1 small intimate and 1 larger and available for party rentals.Rock Creek Greenway begins near Downtown Gainesville and go through Ivey Terrace Park, Wilshire Park and down to Lake Sidney Lanier at Longwood Park.Absolutely a wonderful place to stroll and gather your thoughts, or fun for the whole family including the dog!

Even if there is a party in the pavilion, you can find a spot all to yourself by walking the trails in the shady quietness. Just sit on a bench, stare at the water in the creek, watch the birds and squirrels. It is much more serene than Longwood Park.

Nice trails and a soothing place to go for a walk. There are usually some interesting plants blooming along the trails.

Wilshire Trails Park is a great walking trail in the heart of Gainsville. The path is paved and most sections are fairly level, making it suitable for even the most novice trekker. The trail follows rock creek and there are several cute covered bridges and stone bridges along the path, which lend considerable charm to the experience. Great dog walking trail.
