Nimbin does community things very well and the Nimbin Farmers Market is another example of this. It started about a year ago and is held every Wednesday, from 3pm to 6pm in the parking area between the Green Bank and the Nimbin Post Office. The emphasis is on local growers and producers, and as you can imagine in a region known for it's alternative lifestyle / permaculture etc the quality of that produce is very high. You'll find dairy products from Nimbin Valley Dairy, wonderful bread and baked goods from Jason's Nonsuch Bread stall (we're addicted to his Nimbin Country Loaf and Organic Chocolate and Pecan Tarts), and a wide variety of veggies, herbs and fruit straight out of local veggie gardens from Ben at the Levity Gardens Foundation stall, Gen and Dave at the Big Sky Farm stall (try Gen's chocolate pudding fruit ice cream) and many others. You'll also always find something interesting at Ashlee and Matt's "Barefoot Affair " stall. One week it's Passionfruit Liqueur and stirfried noodles, the next, home made hummus and luscious spiced pumpkin dip. Keep an eye out too for Sue's "Nimbin Delicious" stall with it's jams and chutneys.Nimbin Farmers Market is well worth a visit if you are in Nimbin mid week (try Blue Knob Farmers Market on weekends). Go early rather than late because it's a very small market and sells out quickly.
