I have read the other review and I have to beg to differ. I had wanted to have a skating party for my 40th this past May. So, I called up Sportsman's Hall and spoke with the owner. He was extremely friendly and when I asked about renting out the rink for the party, he asked why. He said that it was so much more cost effective for me to have the party during a normal session and then talked to me about if we wanted to do a theme, what extra food we wanted besides pizza and how he could accommodate us and make my birthday special. We were in touch several times in advance about specifics and the owner even gave me his cell number to get in touch. The day of the party, we entered along with the other parties about 10 minutes before the session started. We were shown to our tables and then we met our party hostess. She was fabulous and easily accessible, checking in with my mom and husband throughout the event. She was very friendly and easy going. My friends and all of the children involved, we had at least 40 people, all said how much fun they all had. It was a blast. There was limbo, speed contests (by age), and overall lots of fun. We've also been many times for open skate times, most often Sunday or Saturday during their daytime hours and it has been a wonderful experience. Everyone we know takes their kids to roller skate here. They even have these "walker" type of devices made of pvc pipes to help people learn to skate. If you are nearby, I wouldn't hesitate....and at $7 admission and $3 skate rental, it's well worth the fun memories.

http://www.sportsmansskating.com/party-rentals/birthday-parties.htmlI have no brain power for what I really want to say about having my daughter's party at Sportsman's Hall. It is not what we all grew up with as kids. I am exhausted from working a party that I paid for. We arrived ten minutes prior to the party time and the staff all smoking in the parking lot would not let us in. There were several parties booked today and they wouldn't open the doors claiming that they were "not ready".. are you kidding me? Mind you, I had already given these people a deposit via credit card by phone. I was only allowed to do so if I paid their credit card charge. We entered, and those that had booked a party had to wait and enter with the general public and party guests after waiting outside in the sun with cake and it's icing melting. Our tables were not fully set and there were several other parties booked to capacity. The "party planner" aka waitress we were assigned started our party late with nothing in place.I had to take orders from each individual kid including running drinks and waiting in general population to be waited on for missing items. I tried to reach out to owner/manager and two other staff members to try to get this woman running my party some help because my daughter's party was falling apart. Mind you I paid for a party with food. The owner himself got in my face in front of everyone at the concession stand and was unaccomidating and down right rude. They did not announce birthdays on the floor until parents starting complaining. Many had problems with their disaster of a party but the owners told each one of us that we were the only people who had problems. No safe serve protocols at the concession stand. When it was time to do cake I had to hunt down paper products that were all supposed to be provided. At the end I had to hunt down the people with my bill so I could leave. My kids waited for 25 minutes while I argued the several overcharges. They kept referring to prices and a 15 percent gratuity that was not listed on their website. The owner told staff to hurry up and change the website right in front of me...SCAM to the max.Take it from a die hard Sportsman's kid of the past..this place is the pits and please do not give this current owner your business..you will be sorry.EXHAUSTED! ! And thank you to all our guests that stuck this disaster out.
