The main buildings are inviting and well kept. The campsites look good. On this trip we took a mile-long old-growth forest trail loop and viewed 'knees' in the cypress swamp, holly berries, partridge berries (two flowers per berry!) and more. It took about an hour of casual, relaxed walking; very pleasant. Boating the river would definitely be an activity to do in warmer weather. Recommended park!

Pocomoke River State Park is a very nice, large, and well maintained park. I stayed there for a week in mid-September of 2014 and enjoyed the stay. I stayed in the Shad Landing Area, in the Acorn Trail loop, where all the sites were large enough for some of the largest rigs. Lots of trees, which means lots of shade. The park is well maintained, with frequent patrols of park rangers. Although I had no need to use the bath house, I did take a peek just to see the condition. It appeared to be well maintained, and although showed its age a little bit, using the facility would not be unpleasant. The roads are also well maintained, and in excellent condition. Navigating into the sites is fairly easy given their size. However… if you’re arrive at night, understand that it is extremely dark around the sites, which makes it a little challenging backing a large rig into the site. The park is located on Rt. 113 in Maryland. From the park it’s about a 20-minute drive to the north to Ocean City, and about an hour and fifteen to Virginia Beach to the south. If you’re in the area and have never been across you the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel, you really should think about making the trip across it. The toll is $15.00 each way but the views are well worth it. We visited the Nature Center where the staff was very friendly and enthusiastic. The nature center has many exhibits and specimens of wildlife native to the area.We then followed a trail down to the boat house where we got two canoes. We took the loop around an island for our canoe trail, as we were doing a ParkQuest activity. The back half of the trail was peaceful and easygoing. The last part of the trail opens out onto the river where there were a few other boats and people skiing, but we kept close to the shore and still had a nice ride. This park is beautiful as is the river. I thoroughly enjoyed this park! I want to go back and try camping here as the campgound looked very nice and had a large swimming pool.

Not our first time and will not be our last. Stayed for a week. Deer Run loop, Acorn loop last time. Nice and shaded. Required to stay Saturday since we booked through Friday. Great central location for kayaking various spots. Janes Island about 20 minutes drive. Wish they had a better spot for leaving your kayak and for putting it in though. Nice park for bike riding too. They will begin upgrading restrooms in September. They need to upgrade their trailer dump station. Too short and narrow for trailers to get through easily. Beautiful in the Spring-Weekend trip in April. . Toll roads are too expensive for us to visit as often as we would like.

I camped here with my extended family ranging in age from 1 1/2-63 and we all had a really wonderful time. We had five sites that were all situated right next to each other in the F loop near the riverfront and camp store. The campground itself had a lot of nice things to do like boat rentals, a pool, nature center, playground, and hiking trails and we enjoyed all of them. The bathrooms (at least the ones we used) were always clean and there was laundry facilities at the camp store.The campground is also convenient to get to Ocean City and Chincoteague and Assateague Islands for day trips which we enjoyed.

BE sure to visit the NATURE CENTER! the Rangers were SO nice. The girls (ages 9 & 13) really enjoyed their visit to this small, but interesting center located in the park near the restrooms. They are currently building a HUGE log canoe there. FUN to see.

This isn't a "resort" type campground, so if you're looking for planned activities and tons of amenities, this isn't the place for you. HOWEVER, if you are looking for a nice place to camp that is clean and well kept, to get back to nature...you've found it!!! They have a great pool for cooling off. Laundry facilities and Bathhouses are always clean! Great plus is that it is very inexpensive and if you want to head to the hustle and bustle of OC MD, you're less than a half hour away.

I've been staying at Shad Landing since the 1970's and not much has changed. It's nice that they now have a pet loop. The park is just beginning the remodeling of several bathhouses and several other camp buildings. While I was there they were replacing the small docks in the fishing pond. It is nice to see that the state is finally putting some much needed improvement in its state parks.

For my money you can't beat state parks. This is one of the nicest I've been in. The sites are large, wooded and as private as they can be. An added bonus is electric. The river is quiet and a perfect place to canoe.

We were in the area for a family wedding and had some time to burn. Found this state park's web site and decided to check it out in person. We toured the small, but well stocked nature center -- seeing live animals from the area (snakes, turtles fish, smaller reptiles, etc.) The guide was helping other families, but made a point to break away to ask if we had questions or if she could help us with our visit. She pointed out a local loop trail that shows differences between hardwood forests and cypress swamps. The trail was an easy walk with boardwalks in the wet areas and numbered guide posts at key spots along the trail (coordinated with a trail booklet available at the trailhead in a map box.) Overall, it is a wonderfully equipped park with a large outdoor pool, river canoe rentals, snack bar and trading post. Playgrounds, picnic pavilions and open fields make for a great day visit. Campsites for tents and trailers abound. Everywhere we visited was well maintained and in good working order.

We camped here for 5 days, the campsite was good with a lot of shade... And energy for our camper. I did not use the bathrooms because someone told me there was a lot of bugs.....We basically spend the day at the beach (Bethany beach - an hour from there) and back to the park to sleep

We stayed for two nights in our pop-up camper, traveling to the beach a half hour away during the day. The campsites were sufficient, although I like a little more space in between. The restrooms were clean. The pool costs $4 a person even for campers. They were selling a pound of bacon in the camp store for $8. I wouldn't make it a destination park. Stay there if you have something else to do in the area.

We will Never return....We just returned form camping there @Acorn Trail w/our kids, grand-children, & friends, we had 4 campsites together! The park rangers were just very Over the top Nit pickey w/Everything!!! From telling my husband he was parked on a root, and that we were too loud @quiet time & all we were doing was talking & not to mention, twice we found the park ranger spying on us....Years ago we used to camp here & have a really good time but Not any more, too many rules & the rangers will just not let you be!!!! My family & friends will never come back to this park....shame on you!!!!!

Spacious, clean, shaded, quiet campgrounds. Large pool and clean generous shower facilities. (Pool opening in June) They have large RV pads many with electric and pet friendly. Water is in every RV area and a sanitary dump at entrance. They take reservations online and on the phone. Drop ins based on availability. Boat ramp and fishing on site. Small snack bar and camp store.

We stayed here on a whim, deciding that we wanted to camp one more night before our Memorial Weekend came to a close, so we pulled up and asked for a tent site, no electric, and got site 200. That was awesome! They had a vacancy on Memorial Sunday 05/25/14. The place is very spacious, the staff was amazing, and the camp store was open until 8pm. They were open on a Sunday too, so registration was super-easy. Definitely would go back if I'm in Maryland camping again.
