My daughter was 4 at the time we visited this zoo. It is a very nice zoo with lots of animals. It also allowed for the feeding of several animals, which my daughter loved! She especially enjoyed the alpacas. The zoo is very well laid out and has benches for resting when needed. Again, the bonus is a feeding of several of the animals for no additional cost and my daughter was able to bring home a souvenir cup. There is a park attached to the zoo, with slides built into the side of a hill. My daughter enjoyed the play time and the adults the relaxing time before the drive back to our vacation rental. My only concern with this zoo, which cannot really be helped, is that it is set in nature and not a "concrete setting." As a result we had two run ins with snakes that were not in cages and were a part of the wildlife in the area surrounding the zoo. One snake was sliding down the path we were walking on while looking at animals. The other snake was a HUGE black snake blocking out way out of the park area and back to the zoo. We had to wait it out in order to leave the zoo.

I love this small time zoo. The do a great job caring for the animals. I gave 4 stars but it's not really against the handlers or staff or owners they need more volunteers to help clean up the reptile house and other enclosures.

This is a great small zoo to see lots of things up close & personal. If you like to feed animals...including a giraffe!) while you have peacocks walking by you, you will love your visit to this zoo.

One of the best haunted houses ever! 3 fright levels (scream; run and scream; pee your pants) also a very cool paranormal investigation session after wards. Will definitely go twice this year and be back next. Oh, the zoo is awesome too ;)

This zoo has lots of personality, the animals and the staff seem very friendly and interested in their visitors. The animals were all active and moving around in different ways. The staff was happy to talk to visitors and explain what they were doing while they worked. Kids can (for a token fee) feed all of the the animals that are not dangerous and they love too do it. The zoo appears to have been built on an old farm and is now in the process of being upgraded and expanded. It is a very informal and fun atmosphere. Great for anyone who loves animals, probably best for kids twelve and under.

Visited today and was very surpised with many aspects of this zoo. It had several species I wouldn't have expected. You could get up close to animals following clear trails. Every exibit was well maintained and the animals looked very loved and cared for. Surpised at the size of this local Zoo. I visited with my daughter and two small grandsons. My 1 1/2 year old grandson roamed freely laughing and feeding the animals. We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit and can't wait to return. My only complaint is when I came accross Jimmie and saw a sign that I could feed him if I went to the admissions. giraffes have always been my favorite animals all my life. I ran back to the admissions to find out that you can only feed him on the weekends :( I wonder how many other's have done the same and suggest a small note informing patrons of this information. None the less I got my exercise for the day and I'm giving 5 stars because we loved this Zoo so much. See you soon Jimmie! On the weekend and hopfully in your new home.

We love Plumpton Park! The zoo is small enough to create a uniquely intimate experience but diverse enough to offer a great selection of animals. We love getting to feed Jimmy the Giraffe. Would love to see an expanded snack bar/entrance some day.

nice set up and trails are easy to follow along with map. However, if you are taking a wagon or wheelchair it might be alittle difficult to travel though the thick stones. Beautiful 3 year old tigers and loved seeing the animals names so that they could interact with you.

I was there just last month. What a nice couple of hours. The cages were clean and the animals all up and roaming around their pens. Read in the local newspaper that the new home is being started soon for Jimmy the giraffe, how exciting. As a local here in Rising Sun I have watched our (LOL) country zoo go from bad to worse but now it is amazing. I love driving past and seeing all the cars in the parking lot, knowing this revenue will feed the animals there. Very early in the morning I can hear the monkeys and the peacocks from my front porch. I suggest everyone stop by and see what is up at the zoo as they are always having something going on. Or check out their Web site.

Loved the fact that you could get really close to the animals in the exhibits, and for a small zoo there were quite a bit of animals you don't see at a lot of zoos. You could also pet many of the domestic animals, even alpaca, for a small fee. I loved the white tiger, the serval, and Hope the bear best. Would have liked to have fed the giraffe, too. Very well maintained zoo. Check it out!!

This zoo is small but cute. We went on a Wednesday so it was not crowded. I liked that you can get close to the animals. You can also purchase food to feed the goats. We really liked the many peacocks roaming around. Loved the My son just had to find one of their feathers. I didn't like that the entire zoo is rocks, which is hard to push a stroller in. The tiger exhibit also seems too small for them. They were asleep while we were there so we didn't get to see them walking around. I would also like to see signs posted showing what direction certain animals were. The only sign I saw was signs displaying what animal was in a certain exhibit & the exit sign. I look for this zoo to grow. It's great for a quick afternoon trip.

As soon as you drive into the parking lot you are often greeted by one or more of the zoos beautiful free roaming peacocks. Entrance prices as well as food/drink prices are small and well worth the cost. The zoo is never super crowded and and there is more than enough viewing space even if it was. The animals are all amazing, and clearly happy. This is closest I have ever been to animals like this, Hope, the mama bear, and Buckwheat, the old donkey, are my favorites, but there are tons of animals to see. The zoo also offers the chance to feed their star giraffe "Jimmy" for a small fee, and cups of feed for their farm animals. The other side of the zoo has a large picnic area and several small playgrounds. Throughout summertime Plumpton Park hosts camps for kids of all ages, through Cecil county college. We clearly love this Zoo!!

I have 5 grandchildren and we take turns visiting different places. This zoo is the first place have taken each child. They love it! We didn't just stop there, we visit several times a year with each one. Great little zoo, very family friendly and the people are so pleasant. So many good memories from here!
