On our golf vacation we played Maryland National on the way home. We'd seen the sign for it on I-70 several times and finally found it. It's a beautiful golf course but the change in elevations is tee to green makes it very difficult. We hit shots from the tee down the middle and they'd rolled through the fairway or were unfindable. I hit two drives down the center and were unable to find them. The GPS on the cart did not always work correctly - sometimes it was correct, sometimes not. It is not the kind of course I like to play, but can say that I've played there. Also, we could hear the trucks on I-70 the whole round.

Just one hour or less from the DC Metro area is an absolutely gorgeous course with vistas of the mountains all around you. On a Saturday afternoon, after 2 PM, we played for $60 on a course that had the feel of a well manicured country club. The starter was friendly and helpful, showing all the features of the GPS and scoring options. He told us the history of the course, giving us some perspective. The menu looked great and reasonable, but sadly we didn't have time to partake. The course was pretty empty, so we were free to enjoy each hole, studying the distances and hazards on each shot, and enjoying our surroundings on the most beautiful Saturday we've had in a long time. The map says this course is in Middletown, and it might be according to the map, but it's really two minutes past the pike in Frederick, and took less than an hour from Rockville, MD.

Love the French onion soup and great filets. The staff is always soooo friendly. Beer is cold. Great atmosphere

Played here on a Saturday and paid the after 10:00 rate of $84. It is a little steep compared to what I normally pay but the price was about right for what you get. The grass range was nice with five target greens. The course was in outstanding shape; the greens were very smooth and held well struck shots nicely. There is some local knowledge involved as far as picking lines off the tee. The course seemed to play a little shorter than the distance on the card as most holes were either flat or downhill. You will get penalized for errant shots but you can score on this course if you keep it in play. Saw the beverage cart 4-5 times and the pace of play was good.

This course is in amazing condition! It is very challenging but good shots are rewarded. The GPS on the carts provide you with yardage throughout the course. This is by far my favorite course to play in the area!

The golf course is one of the harder golf courses around. From the first tee to the last putt you have to hit your golf ball. The staff is very friendly and never missed a beat. A must play for good golfer and trouble if you are not ...

I've played this course a dozen times...the first being in the drought year where conditions were terrible...but things have improved since then. The course is very challenging and you can expect that if you're only a novice, you'll be sure to go through a boatload of balls. I managed to find more than I lost every time. The terrain provides a great golf experience, though at times they're a little picky about keeping carts on the trails rather than where you want to go (also tracks you by GPS when you go astray and reminds you to get back on the trail). I love the course, but the price is astronomical.
