Unfortunately the State Park does the best they can with the Casino taking over the area. What used to be a family oriented place is now, a parking lot in place of the volleyball courts, and no campfire @ the lodge for the families.

This is a good park. Has a nice casino. Has a couple beaches to go swimming. Your aloud to have battery power engines on the lake for your boats. Very nice camp ground. Good fishing. And public hunting. I have it 4 stars because you can't have alcohol while camping. Not a big deal but would be nice if you could drink a few beside a campfire.

We were staying at the Rocky Gap Casino Resort and decided to visit the park next door. Since it was late October it was not busy but I can imagine how busy they are when the weather is nice. Very clean and spacious park with some lovely sites overlooking the lake and the mountains in the background. Lots of picnic tables so I’m sure a picnic in the summer would be great. Having a casino and a golf course nearby also makes it nice. They do charge a few bucks for admission, which we felt, was very reasonable.

This was my first bus group to Rocky Gap Casino. Some of the patrons first time at this establishment , they had a good time and loved the view of the mountains and lake.

Overall this is a very nice campground. The costs per night are reasonable. The biggest downfall is that there is only one electric loop. If you are not one of the 29-30 campers to reserve a site well in advance, you are out of luck. This represents only 1/10th of the sites and they don't reserve them for trailers or mobile homes. Usually almost 10 - 12 of the electric sites are taken by tenters, which don't necessarily need the electric in the first place. I know because I tented for nearly 30 years. That itch aside, RG is a nice place. The lakeside trails are well maintained and can be biked or hiked, 5 miles to circumnavigate the whole lake. The bath-houses are well maintained, too. Lots of hot water and the showers have been upgraded with nice stalls.

Great lake views, hiking trails, stand up paddle board and kayak rentals at the lodge. Such a beautiful place. Casino is nearby with some good restaurants with outdoor seating too. Worth a trip. A little piece of heaven in Allegany County.

On our first family camping trip with a toddler, I expected a 1970's older cabin and restroom facilities. What a surprise! The campground is gated with pin code security at the front gate and each cabin has a punch pad lock -no keys needed. Each site has a nice picnic table, fire pit, and spacious parking area. We stayed near the group site and enjoyed their festivities in the evening although not loud or distracting. My 2yr old loved the experience. We swam all day, canoed and enjoyed the nature conservatory and enjoyed our quiet time by the fire in the evening. Highly recommended and looking forward to going back. If you forget something ( matches, water, S'mores sticks the local camp store has it.

The hotel is nice but nothing extraordinary, but the entire park all rolled into one is a very nice destination for a few days away. The trail around the park is awesome for runners or hikers and the likelihood is you will see wildlife everywhere including black bears. Rocky Gap is just a beautiful in the winter as well.

I have young children who can't/won't do tough hikes, so I always appreciate places where I can readily see a beautiful view without having to drag the reluctant kids up a mountain trail. This place is very pretty and just a walk along the lake shore is all that is needed to get many different views of water framed by hills and rolling green fields. There are little beaches where the water is shallow enough that children can safely splash about even though there are no lifeguards on duty. Picnic tables are plentiful, and the bathrooms are clean ( or at least they were when I visited on a Sunday in mid-August).

We just returned from a wonderful 5 day stay at Rocky Gap. Our cabin on the Gap loop was clean and comfortable and, most importantly, kept us snug and dry during two rainstorms. My husband & I thought the double bed mattress was pretty thin, so we bought extra padding. The kids' bunk bed was actually more comfortable than ours. We expected that the nearby bathhouse would be musty and gross, but we were pleasantly surprised with the clean & modern fiberglass showers. And it had a nice dishwashing station with a real kitchen sink and garbage disposal, which was very convenient. The weather kept us from hiking, but we did get some time on the water. They have boats to rent and a swimming area. My 10 yr. old caught a few fish from the dock. The beach sand and lake floor are coarse and rocky so I'd recommend water shoes. The kids enjoyed the playground overlooking the lake. We enjoyed this park very much and would like to go back there soon.

Camped here last fall and absolutely loved it. Quiet, nice campsite, close to a good restroom, and very close to town.

Very convenient combination of golf, scenic waterfront, and casino! Buffet was a good value and view at Lakefront was very nice.

We have hiked & swam here. Enjoyed both. Really do wonder how clean the water is though, rather concerning. Have ate at rest. up near the hotel here also. The food was just normal with high prices. Wished snack area near beach would have been open. Another poster said it was $6 per person, it is not. It is $6 per car load if u r out of state, less for in state. Never used casino, hotel, golf, or camp ground.

The short trail around the lake was about 5.75 miles and my 10 and 7 y/o girls were able to make it..spray some insect repellent though, the campsite was great, we're close to the clean bathroom and water supply, kayaking and swimming in a cool water is fun but the lake is not good for fishing because there's a lot of weeds , trail biking and volley ball by the artificial beach was great .i would definitely bring my family back there in the summer.

we took a dip in the lake, hiked on the trails and enjoyed the day with lots of beautiful foliage and nature surrounding us!
