We were in Boonsboro and had read a review on it and wanted to see for our self. Doug Bast was very interesting and his collection is amazing. His rooms are filled with so many things. The Civil war collection is just Wow! He rooms are very interesting. He has some may collections. If you get a chance to go by and see it.

The Boonesbord Museum is the finest of it's type anywhere and I've sought out places like this in 47 states. On my recent visit, owner Doug Bast was incredably informative and welcoming. His collection is worthy of the Smithsonian. Boonesboro is a beautiful town and this private museum is the gem of the town and region.

My girlfriend & I had a marvelous 1 1/2-hour tour of Doug Bast's lifetime personal collections which included weapons of all sorts, carved Civil War bullets (who knew they carved bullets?), prison weapons, early surgical tools, canes, religious items, canons, country store, various glass and pottery collections, a piece of the White House, and the list goes on and on. Normally I can walk through a place and be done, but this place and its owner's passion and knowledge captures you like no other. Doug Bast is Boonesboro's own historian and I hope his mission it taken up by someone equally passionate about history as he is because he has so much inventory that has yet to be put on display and I don't see him ever giving up on acquiring more and more.

It's an incredible collection of unusual & interesting artifacts. The items focus on local history from early settlement to present day.

Our innkeeper arrange for us to visit the museum on a Monday afternoon. The museum is privately owned by Doug Bast and normally open on Sunday afternoons or by private arrangement. Mr. Bast (pronounced bost as in Boston) will spend hours with you explaining his collections.

Doug Bast has done an amazing job of collecting & displaying artifacts of all types. Most of the items are from the Civil War era while others are local.

Great little museum, Mr. Bast, the owner is really nice and knowledgeable. The collection is crazy cool, who woulda thunk there were Egyptian antiquties and a piece of the White House in Boonsboro!
