As the lovely old hymn goes, "Near the Place Where the Pilgrims Came Flies the flag of Wheaton's Blue" & indeed this historic jewel of a campus that exemplifies quintessential New England schools is worth a visit. Founded in 1834 as a female seminary, it is among the oldest schools in the country, now co-ed & thriving. The tree-lined "Dimple" at its center - with elegant (decidedly yellow) Mary Lyon hall nearby - now is surrounded by tasteful modern buildings & state of the art science center & library.
