I'm not a serious climber tho I have been to the Gunks. We visited MetroRock because my friend wanted to go. The staff was very accommodating, two guys we talked to.The place is bigger inside than I thought and they have several different set-ups you can use based on level. It's been a year since we went. I was afraid they might not make it financially but they are still there. I use their parking lot when I run on the rail trail because it's safer than the train station lot. There are usually about six cars there. This is worth a try if you are in reasonably good shape but you do not need climbing experience or have to be a real jock.

Took 20 team members for a personal challenge and "fun" session after a morning planning retreat. It was a great event. The staff of MertoRock was exceptional in guiding and motivating each team member to perform. It is a moderately difficult 10 part course that none of us had done before. At the end, with a few sore muscles, everyone felt great that they had stretched themselves. Many did things they never dreamed they could do. From wall climbing, high rope walking, net climbing, going over and through obstacles, and a final zip line to the bottom, it is a well done course.

Daughter was looking to do something over the summer and she carried her delight from climbing into two winter breaks and visits with friends. Differenent physical challenges and the staff is very outgoing. Best part is they leave the kids alone but are willing to edcate when asked.

A nice gym with a large boldering section. Artificial rock walls are nice. Open feel and not at all cramped. Friendly staff
