Julie Boyd has really put together a gem of a theatre. We've been thoroughly entertained by shows at BSC, be they dramas of musicals. We look forward to new season every year along with other arts and recreation venues in the Berkshires.

First class theatre on a back street. It just keeps getter better. No matter the show or the seat this is a must stop when you are in Pittsfield.

During this summer I have attended 3 small stage plays and 2 Main stage ones. This last one was Enemy of the People. It was the least appealing presentation and still excellent. Julia Boyd has developed an amazing array of performers and interesting theater troops who willingly perform for limited times (2-3 weeks) in Pittsfield. In every instance (in 2014) I found their theme unusual, their presentation thought provoking and well done. Can I say more? Next year I'm subscribing.

Over the years I have found that Barrington Stage has consistently presented the best theater in the Berkshires. Their musicals that open the season and the plays that follow on the Main Stage and in Stage II are never disappointing. The casts are extremely talented and we often leave the theater asking why they are not on Broadway.

I bought VIP tickets for 2 different performances, the shows themselves were great but the perks that come with the extra cost weren't worth it. I had to stand out in the lobby for 10 minutes for the second performance as the staff had not provided me with the VIP passes and had to wait for someone to rectify the situation. After each performance there is supposed to be a reception with food and a chance to meet the stars of the shows. These receptions were held in the lobby which had to be cleared of the regular patrons. The space was ridiculously too small with people knocking the food out of your hands as they shoved past you. The most upsetting thing was that many of those there did not have VIP passes and not one of the staff checked for this. 2 people in particular were monopolizing the time with one of the stars and they didn't have VIP tickets. Later in the week a friend invited me to a play there and we were in the balcony. I realized I was a fool to buy VIP tickets as I had a great view and didn't need to pay extra ever again. I will never buy VIP tickets again. That said, the shows and the play I saw there were great and I would go again, just not for that cost again.

In a modern and comfortable refresh of an old movie theatre, the venue and product were very good and this production was excellent in both the script, direction and acting on a very difficult person, subject and place in history. We were very please at the quality of this play and its performers.

just saw "Breaking the Code" -- there's no better theater anywhere! The acting was perfect, the actors' timing was spot-on. The directing was brilliant -- quite different from that in the original play, apparently. The actors who weren't involved in a given scene sat just off the stage and registered their responses to what was happening by facial expressions or small movements, such as turning their backs to the action when they disapproved. Very effective! It drew everyone in. Sorry we saw it near the end of the run, b/c I'd like to get every theater-lover there to see it!

We saw "Breaking the Code" and were delighted with both the production and the theater itself. The staging was very austere, which suited the topic really well, and the entire cast was brilliantly cast for each role. We were all moved and felt it was worth the drive. Another nice feature is that the little town itself has a nice selection of restaurants so that you can dine before or after.

There is nothing better than seeing a show at any of the theaters. Great summer theater with terrific actors. You will not be disappointed. Have been to the different theaters many times.

Went for Kiss Me Kate and found it extraordinary! The theater company deserves highest praise. All Equity actors, their experience and talent shows. Fully orchestrated, with an old-fashioned pit in front of the stage, making the live music very much part of the attraction of the show. The theater itself is accessible, especially in the higher-price seats, which are only a few steps from the lobby. Seats are large, nicely upholstered and comfortable, wide aisles, auditorium is brightly refurbished, but small enough to maintain a good intimate quality. Parking is about a block away, but only $2.00- a far cry from NY prices.... We went for a day trip, well worth the 3-hour ride from Boston area. Stopped in Lee for a nice dinner on the way home- a super day, under $100. per person, including gas and a terrific dinner after the matinee. Great way to experience the Berkshires without spending a fortune on hotels.

We make a point to go to Barrington Stage Company in the summer as their productions are new, interesting, and well-done. We typically go to the St. Germain Stage.

Broadway musicals at Pittsfield prices. How do they do it? The talent is first class. The voices are perfect. The orchestra is worth the price alone. You'll love it.

Every production I have seen at Barrington Stage in Pittsfield are of Broadway caliber. I have not ever seen a play that I didn't love there. Top notch, you won't be sorry!!

Saw Kiss Me Kate there in July 2014. Top rate performers in an established theater company. They always have a great list of shows throughout the summer.

Always great shows. Theatre in pittsfield beautiful. Sometimes the sound not clear in mezzanine Barrington stage is now part of the Stockbridge theatre.
