This is a hidden gem in the southwestern part of Arkansas. Two hour drive from Little Rock. We camped in site 70, right on the water with a view of water lilies and cypress trees that are just starting to change color. We camped on Sept 26-28, 2014. The weather was warm, but very comfortable. There are two hiking trails, a 1.5 mile along the shoreline and a 4 mile that goes into the hardwood forest. The trails are well blazed and very wide. The four mile is also maintained for bicycle use. The site we were on was large, a grill, fire ring, picnic table and electricity. The restrooms were very clean. There is a great playground that looks like it just got some updating. The grounds are very well maintained, the grass was cut nicely. The people are very helpful. My daughter did bird watching and the skies are really dark. We played on the swings under the stars. I would highly recommend this park.

The park and surroundings are beautiful. It's not far off the main road, so there is some ambient traffic noise. We camped here over Memorial Day weekend and had a good time. No lie on the reviews about alligators! We saw a small one just off the camping area we were in...he was out in the water, but close none the less. When we were kayaking, I nearly put my paddle on his head and he tried to grab the paddle before he swam off. Scared the CRAP out of me! Beautiful, flat water for kayaking and fishing though. The biggest issue was the campsites are not well defined and very close together. The grounds are nice and well kept. You are free to gather your own firewood...but if you don't bring a saw/ax, you may have trouble getting easy to burn pieces. Overall, a nice visit, but I don't think I'd rush back.

Beautiful place to visit. Lots of parts to camp. Lots of fishing and hunting spots available. Can see lots of nature's beauty.

Great park, very well taken care of. Large and beautiful sites, but.

When I was younger if was great fun to visit, nice swimming area, kids everywhere. Well now as an adult, there is absolutely no swimming area, only one playground that is nice but in summer it is too hot to utiilize for any lenght of time. There are two walking trails that are OK, not as good as other state parks. If you like to fish and only fish, come here. If you have kids they will be board stiff.

Millwood State Park is a 4 hour drive from Dallas . This is a small State Park that is situated between a main highway and along the banks of Millwood Lake . The clarity of the lake is not pretty at all. The water is muddy brown. We love the water and weather permitting love to swim and kayak so this was disappointing. There are campsites along the water with some shade offered by the towering pines. There is quite a bit of road noise. The campsites near the new bath house are to close to one another however these were the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen. The new bathhouse is very nice with big showers and ample room for a wheelchair. Plan on getting a site near the large play ground near the hiking trail at the opposite end of the marina. Campsites # 79 through #83 these campsites are spread out and situated in the most prettiest part of the park. Millwood as observed attracts the fishing crowd with big fishing boats. If you are going to drive that far might as well shoot west to Broken Bow.
