By accident, we drove to this place and had a wonderful scenic one hour hike. I saw some of the most amazing wildflowers ever and some interesting glacier formations, across the Kachemak Bay, that were different to the glaciers you see from the Homer Spit. On a clear day, the view of the Homer Spit coming back is also fantastic.Eveline State Recreation Area is about a 20-minute drive east (on East Coast Road, a very scenic drive) away from the Homer Business District. If you have a car in Homer, drive to this Recreation Area for an easy to medium hike and excellent views. If you have a state park pass, you can use it here, otherwise a $5 day pass works.

Great views. Wildflowers. The signage is poor-- they don't tell you that the perimeter trails are not maintained in the summer --- so we "got lost"-- this is close to the city so you really can't be lost but we went for quite a while on a trail that got bushier and more scrubby before going back. The trail maps make it look like it would be accessible but clearly not.
