I had a few hours free in Birmingham and the breweries were recommended. They list their tours on Saturday on their website. I was there on a Tuesday. I asked if they'd allow me to have the tasting even though they weren't giving tours...and they gave me a private tour. The staff was very friendly and they pulled a decent crowd throughout the afternoon. They have a variety of beers and are knowledgeable on helping customers find one they would like. They are across from the baseball stadium, so it's likely crowded during games as there is not another venue around. The downside is there is no food. They explained that on busy days, they have food trucks come. You are allowed to bring in your own food.

the first thing we do before visiting a new city is find "where are they making beer". Good People Brewing has been doing that since 2009 or so and they know what they are doing. like any taproom worth its weight, taps flow with brews not commercially available. while my hop-head wife was in hop heaven with a Snake Handler double IPA i had a Sour Stout aged 9 months in a burgundy casks and a Russian Imperial Stout (El Gordo) ringing the bell at 13.9% ABV. the brewers/bartenders were extremely friendly (hey Joel!) and knowledgeable. the beer and people are so good we plan to come back to birmingham this summer and take in a AA Barons game (directly across the street).

This is a great place to try some really good locally brewed beer in Birmingham. A very relaxed atmosphere with large bay door open to the outside and a small stage for music. Service is fast and friendly. The beer is brewed onsite and the IPA is highly recommended, although, I've never heard a complaint on any of their beer. I saw their airport location, but didn't have time to stop in for a try. Here's wishing them continued success and a broader distribution area!

I got held up at Birmingham Airport today, thanks to the crap Airline my company makes me fly. I stopped into Good People Brewing Company and had a really good Cobb salad. The waitress was ultra nice and the service was fast and friendly. I know the have the best IPA around these parts and will make it my stop in when in BHam. Love it!

Love this! If you want an authentic brewery, this is your place. We purchased the flight to try all (8) the beers, not bad at $16. The Mumbai Rye was amazing, but is seasonal. It's in a warehouse, so, was somewhat warm. No good served here... I brought peanuts from the Peanut Depot :-)

One doesn't think of Birmingham, Alabama as being host to some excellent craft breweries, but Good People and Avondale turn out some delightful beers. We were introduced to the Good People brown ale at a local restaurant, and simply had to make a pilgrimage to the brewery to see their operation and taste their other brews. It was worth the visit. They are located directly across from the Barons stadium, so it's easy to find.

A fun place to grab a cold one after a ball game. It is fascinating to see the equipment and the beer is great. Even folks gathered out on the loading dock. Not a frilly evening, just a great brew in cool surroundings.

I stopped by Good People Brewing Company after a Barons game. It was a great atmosphere and a lot of fun. The beers were very good and the staff was friendly. I would like to come back sometime when I could move around and check out the brewery a bit more.

The coffee oatmeal stout was so good. The people that worked there were very nice. I would go back in a heart beat.

I got there before it opened for the day, but Lauren let me come in and look around. Huge venue to support their extensive brewing and events. I tasted a couple of their beers (thanks, Lauren!) and was really impressed. I'm a hoppy beer lover; Snake Handler did not disappoint! Can't wait to stop there again.

What a delight it was to spend the best part of an evening here! We came bearing greetings for Anne, who was in charge of the bar, from Brock who was in charge of the bar at Avondale Brewing Company when we were there and our suspicions were confirmed - this city is indeed full of good people and has a thriving new craft beer culture. The brewery is in a big new industrial building at the end of the Railroad Park and they've somehow made a very nice, cosy tap room in one corner. The horseshoe shaped bar has lampshades fashioned from small casks and the tables are giant cable reels set on their sides. The beers were very good indeed and we were well looked after. I don't think they serve food normally but there was a lot of still-wrapped and untouched food that had been brought in for an earlier event in the function room and customers in the bar were invited to polish it off, so we did our bit. I understand that brewery tours are available too (see website).

We try to visit local craft breweries in any city that we visit, and Birmingham is no exception. We stopped in to Good People on a Saturday evening for some much needed brew therapy after working all day. First off, what an awesome job they've done of decorating this old warehouse. They have the biggest ceiling fan I've ever seen - I swear, it's an airplane propellor. So cool. And the lights over the bars are made out of old kegs. My husband immediately looked at me with the "can we? can we?" eyes. :) We ordered a flight so that we could try all five beers they had on tap. All I can say is that Good People is a hop lovers paradise. They use hops liberally and unashamedly, and their fans love them for it. I'm not a huge hops lover, so while I could definitely appreciate the quality and craftsmanship of their beers, I wasn't dying to have a pint of each. I really did enjoy their coffee oatmeal stout, though - it was balanced and creamy deliciousness. Snake Handler just slaps you in the face with hops, but smooths out in the end. Their Brown is very good - if I had ordered more, that's what I would have had. Ultimately, we left because the band came back on, and were so loud that we couldn't talk anymore, so we moved on to our next brewery stop of the evening. We will definitely visit Good People again in the future.

Good People beers are a hop-head's paradise and they're not ashamed of it. Everything they do is big. Real big. Their flagship Snake Handler IPA is a hop bomb without any detectable malt for balance. Their stout is massive, too. I knew what I was getting into before going here, so I can't say I was disappointed. However, I wouldn't have minded if they were just one notch closer to mainstream; I think that would make the bulk of their offerings more palatable.

Went here for a quick brewsky whilst waiting for the ole lady's little bro to get off work. Good brew w/ a cool unique atmosphere only wish that the barons had a game would have been even cooler
