We recently visited the Dothan area and took the opportunity to go out to the golf club. We were very pleasantly surprised. The General Manager was very friendly and eager to assist us. The rates were great. The course while work is in progress was very well maintained. We really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend that if one is in the area "don't miss this opportunity to have some real fun".

Can't beat the beauty of this golf course! It is a work in progress and the new owners (6 months) have been working hard to bring this course back to its former glory. The back nine greens are in good shape, the front still need work -- but the course itself is fun, challenging, and absolutely beautiful (set out late in the day and watch the shadows play across the fairways). Enough water to satisfy or frustrate, and not crowded. The hotel is similar to a Motel 6, clean and comfortable beds but no frills. There is an inside mineral pool to take out the kinks of the day and an Olympic sized outdoor pool. The staff couldn't be more accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The price can't be beat! We will definitely be back.

This course is "long" for most public courses. As some earlier reviewers said, it's had it's problems, too. Past management issues and a horrible winter/spring, lightening strike on the pump, dam break, etc wreaked havoc on this otherwise beautiful course. But Matt and his staff have worked -- and are working -- tirelessly to get the course back in shape from what it was when the new management took it over. I played today -- the fairways were in great shape, if not a little 'hairy' in some places (we were ahead of the mowers). Most of the greens have come back after they died due to weather/pump conditions. A few of the greens still have some trouble spots, but they are very playable--no temporaries needed! The bunkers are still not ideal, but that's the price you pay for missing the fairway/green! The restaurant (bar & grill) has limited food options but it's good and made fresh. Sandwiches, burgers, dogs are regularly available. The room has a pool table, couple of TVs, dart board, but BEST OF ALL it is 100% smoke free!! FINALLY!! It took the newest managers to realize that 80% or more of the population does not smoke! For those who do smoke, there is a covered outdoor area just for you (and it's nice enough non-smokers enjoy it, too!) that overlooks the course. The prices for golf and the food are very reasonable. If you haven't played since June, come back and try again. You'll find a very different course waiting for you!

I have seen many negative reviews on this particular place and the new owners. I for one can say I have been here many times in the past few years and it is the best I have seen it in years. I do know that previous owners in the past didn't really care about the conditions of the course and let it go down. You have to know that picking up where someone left off is not easy. In the past few months I have noticed a big difference in the greens and the golf course in general. It takes time to make a miracle happen and I really feel the new owners are on the right path to making that happen. The staff are doing everything to make mine and everyone elses experience a good one. Would I come back here? Yes I would and wouldn't think twice. I know the next time I come back this place will be better than ever. They do have updated rooms that are quite nice and they do have some dated rooms. Yet again that takes time to be completed when there are tons of things that need to be done.. I.E. Golf course being taken care of, pools up and running. I don't expect the best and really dig the nostalgia this place has going on.

The course was terrible. I have not played on a course this bad in years. I have been to Dothan National many times over the years with a group from our club in Rome Georgia, and this was the worst time I have ever had. The Greens are in AWFUL shape. I would advise anyone who is planning to play there or book a golf trip, NOT TO...!!! I finally had enough and left a day early from the trip. Save your money and time.

Played here a few years ago the price was cheap and the course was ok at best. I thought that with new owners it would be in better shape. I was pissed that I paid $30 to play. The course is in terrible shape, the greens need lots of work. Two of the holes had temporary greens that looked terrible and no signs at the tee box telling there was a temp green. They need to go back to the cheap prices if they are not going to improve the course.
