This place has a lot of Cullman history, complete with pictures and with personnel there to provide assistance in regards to all the artifacts.

The PEOPLE who work here are awesome - their knowledge of this city is extensive and they are clearly motivated to share that knowledge with their visitors. The Civil War exhibits are quite thought provoking. The insight into the history of this city (from the Native Americans to the Civil War to German immigrants to modern times) is most appreciated. Cullman is a growing city in a beautiful area of the State of Alabama - and this museum helps one to understand the origins of the community. This place is well worth a couple of hours.

The museum is compact but very informative. The docent was extremely knowledgeable of the history surrounding each exhibit in the museum and more importantly he possessed a knowledge of local history's interaction with the state, country and world. He too shared several interesting side-stories of the local population, stories not easily found in history books.

My I suggest you spend the first few hours of your stay in Cullman, Alabama here to learn about the history of this area. Our guide, Julie Bush, did an outstanding job showing us details of the history here with an understanding and passion I had never seen in a curator. She made you forget about the present and walked with you back into a time when this country was going thru growing pains, only to deliver you back to a town that has become not only a destination point for many visitors, but, one that attracts many who choose to live here. The museum is not all that big, but does have some interesting items, and they are in very good condition. If you are interesting in civil war items, this museum has some good pieces. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

The Museum offers walking tours every Saturday in April. It is a great way to learn about the history of our town and the early years. The guides are full of knowledge and make the tour very interesting. A different guide is offered each Saturday. Learn about the key people that had a hand in developing this little German town.

The museum was very well done, but what made it great was the gentlemen who was working there. He was able to provide so many more stories and insight. The book of photos is a must and it's only $1! Definitely worth stopping and seeing first, then explore the town, it'll mean more then.

Not much to see here beautiful building in the surrounding area. Make sure you know if you are going to 3rd Street or 3rd Avenue.
