We took a double decker bus tour around the French Quarter where we learned a lot about the city and the area! We then toured on foot after and what an exciting place! Apparently Mardi Gras was over a week before but it still seemed like it was on to Us! There was a lot of street performers and vendors all over and a neat place to see! Lots of action and people dressed in costumes or whatever! Must See!

The French Quarter is dirty crowded and way overpriced! We did end up finding a bar with a live band playing Creole music, but otherwise there are tons of sports bars that you can find anywhere or bars playing recorded country music. Did I say it was dirty??

What can you say about the Historic French Quarter. Totally unique with fabulous architecture it must be seen. It can also be a den of debauchery particularly Bourbon Street. We had our two young daughters with us during the early afternoon when we strayed onto Bourbon Street. Not only were the vast majority of people already drunk and staggering but we also came across many young woman in various states of undress wandering the street. Amusing to see but certainly not family friendly and this wasn't even Mardi Gras. That aside the quarter is rich in history and has numerous cool stores, including Voodoo stores, and numerous fabulous restaurants and cafes so really it must be visited when in NOLA.

Such a beautiful, historic neighborhood! There's always something to see or do wandering around in the Vieux Carre. And as long as you don't spend too much time on Bourbon St, it actually adds to the experience.

Love the Quarter! The shops and food are wonderful!! Get a map and do research before you go. Next time, we will get a tour on the first day although we learned a lot by roaming on our own. Tours on Foot is a great free tour group. The guides are top notch, and you pay them what you want to pay. My daughter researched tours on line, and we took a Voodoo tour for fun. It was extremely entertaining and informative... not about hexes and voodoo dolls like in the movies. The downside to me was that parents had their 8 and 10 year old children in the French Quarter which I would not recommend... but each to his own. We can't wait to go back!

There's no other place like it in the world. Some of the best music and food in some of the best holes-in-the-wall that you'll find anywhere. It may look seedy, but drop in to a few of the 'clubs' or restaurants and nine times out of twn you won't be disappointed.

I don't know how to explain how crazy this area is...... I'm not royalty, but I've never seen such a trashy mix of humanity all in one place, anywhere. It's like one big excuse to misbehave, dress badly, talk trash, smoke, drink on the street, you name it. Not rushing back!

Loved the French Quarter so much, visited it every day of my trip! Such an interesting an vibrant area, something new to see every day and every night!

Just wander around slowly, taking in the sounds and smells. Certainly, you don't have to eat here because the places are very overpriced. But, there is nothing quite like this, unless you are in France
