A great tour. Included was a film, a tour of the Williams home, and an art exhibit as well. Was a wonderful time.

Since it is free and right in the heart of the French Quarter I figured I'd give it a try. Definitely worth the time! The rotating collection was on Andrew Jackson. But for me the fun part was upstairs with old maps of the city and some interesting history. The staff was particularly well informed and eager to answer questions. It is a small space and doesn't take too long but it gives you a nice sense of the history of the foundation and growth of New Orleans.

The museum is free and has a very interesting collection, but it's worth the $5 per person to take the guided tour of the building complex that is not part of the free museum.

This is a quiet, historic museum. It is neat to learn about the history of the city and the state. Best of all it's free! Recommend for the tourist.

A wonderful time in this amazing city. The parade was spectacular, safe and great fun. Collected thousands of beads!!

This museum was especially worthwhile to understand the history of New Orleans. It is a beautiful building and the displays are very well done. If we hadn't visited this museum, we would not have understood the culture of the city nearly as well.

If you want to better understand New Orleans history, check out this site. The tour of the house, owned by a cypress lumber businessman and wife, was very informative. The museum featured a special exhibit of Andrew Jackson. Well worth a couple hours of your visit.

Not bad, not impressive. Nicely done. Spend less than 1 hour. Did I mention FREE? Makes it worth it.

My first visit, I came from Michigan, I had two days to learn about NOLA. This was by far the best place to start. It is in a 3 part house. You feel a throw back of 100 years as you walk through the beautifully restored homes. The Museum looks into a court yard that originally was a stable. A must for architectural students and designers. The art, the setting, the sensitive way NOLA unfolds here is wonderful. Free unless you would like a docent tour. After your visit stop by Leah's candies shop which is near by, their chocolate confections are super fresh and you can buy by the piece. Some good coffee, a chocolate and a reflection of a months worth of history and art rolled into 1/2 day. Do not miss this Museum.

Interesting paintings, a lot of history, very low key and will give more insight into New Orleans History. Good use of a couple of hours.

We had walked past this museum a couple of times but it was not until a local suggested we visit that we ventured through the door.So glad we did.We learned some much of the history of New Orleans,General Jackson and Louisiana generally that the two/three hours we spent inside was well worth it.

We go to New Orleans often to vacation and often have walked right by this spot. We have been missing out on what it has to offer. There are rooms full of interesting exhibits where you will learn about the interesting history of the region. It will cost $5 per person for a guided tour of the houses and it is well worth it. I wish we had stopped in sooner.

This is a museum and one of the coolest historic French Quarter buildings. Try to get on a tour (they're cheap, donation only I think) to get all the history. The gift shop is worth a visit as well. And they have concerts in their beautiful courtyard during the warmer months.

Small and intimate, this museum is full of interesting history about New Orleans. There are volunteers to guide you and answer questions. Don't miss it!

Depending on the exhibit and your interests, this could be a sleeper of a find. The exhibits change so go on line and see what if there at the time you will be in NOLA. It's free how could you go wrong?
