The zoo was nice, but it wasn't the greatest. It could have a lot more potential. We took our time taking pictures. It took about 3 hours to walk through it. There were not as many animals as I would have thought we would have seen. Lots of birds & monkeys. Price to get in was good, although only children under 1 get in free.. ?? That seems a little odd and in my opinion should be at least 2 or 3 & under free. Overall for something to do it's worth the price.

We decided to go to the Baton Rouge Zoo since it was one of the few attractions actually open on a Monday. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the zoo. We saw many animals that we had never seen before in other zoos. The park was very clean and the employees were extremely welcoming. It is also a rather inexpensive activity for a family of five.

We used to bring our children here often when they were small. It was a great place to get them out and expose them to different animals. Over the years the zoo has fallen into disrepair and seems neglected. I know the newest manager is trying to revive it. The new tiger exhibit is a great example of that.

Go and see the new tiger cubs!! This zoo has a nice assortment of animals to see and experience and a great little gift shop... Enjoy!

The Baton Rouge Zoo is a great place to spend an afternoon with grandkids! Well kept natural habitat, nice variety of animals, snack bar, picnic area, a train to ride--all fun!

Missed half of it because my wife's best friends husband is a jerk. But really loved this zoo. The pygmy hippo was awesome. Have been to a lot of zoo's & I think this one is one of the best. Audubon is high priced & I think you pay for the name in New Orleans. Wasn't overly impressed with the Audubon zoo. Now Baton Rouge on the other hand is totally awesome. It was beautiful. We rank this one in our top five with Memphis, Fort Worth, San Antonio, & Dallas. This is a awesome little zoo. Will definitely go back without the jerk to enjoy this zoo more. Its a don't miss if your in the area.

This zoo is honestly depressing, theres very few animals and the ones they have look like they want to kill themselves. I only take my son here for the BOO at the Zoo which is horribly ran each year. The lines are long as if they don't expect such a turn out. Nothing seems to be ran efficiently at this zoo. The train, don't waste the $2 that they charge you, it circles the back of the zoo mostly in woods with nothing to see. One of the look at attractions is a box of 3 turtles that you would have in your home as a child.Don't waste your time or money unless your'e looking to depress yourself. Drive to new orleans for a much better experience.

It was an Awesome day spent with my children at a great zoo... We got to see several animals that we have never seen. The pygmy hippo, the cheetah, and the Black leopard were highlights...

Was impressed at the Baton Rouge Zoo. Landscape was really cool and lots of birds and other mammals there. Even got to see a baby porcupine looking thing. Zoo person who had porcupine was very up to speed on the ins and outs of it. If you are a hobby photographer, you can take some really cool pics here. Kids will also love this place as theirs animals everywhere you turn your head. If you go during the summer, bring water and an umbrella or a wet towel to put on your head. Also bring sunscreen, especially for the little ones...

Its an old zoo and some of the enclosures are a bit small for the animals. That said, they all look to be in good health and are well cared for. They have some rare animals and very friendly staff. Its also very cheap to visit - less than $10 for an adult.

I do love going to the zoo, but some of the things are under construction and seem a little run down. That being said, no child would even notice so they sure don't care. I love that there's a lot of natural shade because it does get hot here and you need a reprieve from it or you'll just melt. The train ride is worth the few extra dollars, it's a nice little ride around the entire zoo. I do wish they had other food options because it mostly feels like eating junk food if you happen to be there through lunch. The very best time to go is for Boo at the Zoo! My son LOVES it, you get to see all the animals, take pictures, the weather is nice, there's candy booths at every turn, definitely a kids dream trip.

It's located in north Baton Rouge, passed the airport in Baker. A little bit of a drive to get too. Once here, you'll enjoy your visit. Be sure to purchase a ticket to ride the train especially if you have young kids. The recently renovated "Big Cat" house is very well done.

Functional & attractive landscaping adds shade & eye appeal; good range of species on exhibit, obviously well cared for. Relaxed environment for families & children.

Went with some friends and their kids. Nothing comparable to a big city zoo but interesting and a fun outing.

This is not the closest zoo to our home, but it is by far our favorite. We love the size for a day trip. Not as interesting as the New Orleans Zoo, but perfect for the kids during the summer. Just the right size to keep them interested without becoming too hot or tired. We wish they still had the elephants, but still a great Zoo. The price is amazing!!!
