Don't think this is "too outta the way" from I-10 or 90--it's not, and it's totally worth it. I've been here three times and will be back again.Outside of winter (when lily pads can "trap" the boats, so call beforehand if you want), you just show up and you'll be close to a time when a tour is going out. It's an informative "cruise," down to earth, entertaining, relaxing, and in fact fascinating. The restaurant there is laid back and delicious. And even the "gift shop area" is a no-pressure place to just check out various interesting things from and about the area. I always grab myself a great cookbook.

This was a wonderful and relaxing tour. Not just a wildlife tour, but explains the history of waterway and culture. We were able to see several alligators and different species of birds. Visiting from out of town. Highly recommend

I have been on this tour one other time and it was awesome. I went again and just before it was time to board the boat 11 children most under the age of 7 drove up with their parents and boarded our boat. The trip was not fun. The parents were oblivious to their children running and pushing past us and to the fact that we could not hear the tour guides information. I did mention it to one of the staff in the gift shop where we bought our tickets and she was very apologetic.. This is a hit or miss tour. You could have a good time or you could be with a group of unsupervised children that could ruin your trip.

We drove through all of the mainland states, and by far Louisiana was my favourite thanse to this tour, our guide was informative, funny and entertaining. At the end of our swamp tour we state for Sunday lunch at the landing, we were treated to wonderful music, Cajun style that was manic.

I did the swamp tour with a group although my family would have enjoyed it! The hour and a half tour was led by a friendly gentleman who was knowledgable about the basin, the local wildlife and the history. It was a great trip, well worth the money. They have an on site restaurant and bar, with a list of local bands that perform. I imagine it would be a great place to plan a late afternoon tour, then stay for dinner and fun local nightlife! We saw a few alligators, but enjoyed other wildlife as well. Great afternoon!

Reasonably priced and a two hour tour. Tour guide was very funny and knowledgeable about the basin. We enjoyed this tour very much.

We took 7 people on an airboat tour of the swamp. That same day we did a traditional swamp tour with another business. My kids loved this. I was less impressed. It's neat, and an OK one time experience, but I was able to see a lot more and learn a lot more on our swamp tour in Breaux Bridge. The noise of the boat seemed to scare most wildlife away.

Do not visit this city. The city live on traffic tickets and speed traps. Try bypassing this route by any other means.

We camped in our camper at McGees for two nights and enjoyed side trips to Lafayette for the annual Zydeco Festival and to Breaux Bridge for a walk around this charming little town (was Sunday and pretty much everything was closed). McGee ' s was remote in feel but easy driving distance for our two outings. The campground is undergoing some upgrades and was a bit muddy when we were there but we enjoyed it nevertheless. Beautiful wooded setting on the bayou. Wish we'd have had more time to explore Henderson, and eat at the Landing as well as Cafe deal Amis in Breaux Bridge. Would go for a long weekend again and do the Swamp boat tour. There was much more to explore!

We booked McGee's Landing based on other Trip Advisor reveiws. Everything that I read about the place was true. We had an excellent tour guide (Curtis) who has lived and guided most of his life in the Atchafalya. A family member of mine took the tour several years back and recommended that we do the same. It was very entertaining thanks to Curtis. He was so great with my boys and even let them pilot the boat which was one of the many highlights of the tour. We did not see but one gator due to the water level being so high. Curtis tried very hard, but you cannot coax alligators like you would a dog. Seeing as we were from Florida it was no big deal. The basin was so peaceful and there was abundant wildlife to view. A must see if you are looking to book a tour away from the typical tourist trap tours. Great time

We rented cabin #2 for one night. We wanted two one-couple cabins but none were available. We were offered this cabin, which was presented to us as one that would accommodate 2 couples. When we reached the cabin. Ithad one double bed, one single bed and a very small love seat, which was not a sleeper or a futon. We had no bed linens, pillow or blanket for this love seat. The office was closed so we called the contact number on our receipt and a nice gentleman offered for us to switch to cabin 1, but that cabin had bunk beds and was not suitable for the 4 of us who are in our 70s. The gentleman told us that bed linens, a blanket, and pillow would be brought to our cabin and placed on the porch if we were out. These items were never delivered. I spent a very uncomfortable night on that loveseat with no pillow or bed linens. In the morning, we tried to let the woman at the registration desk know that things had not been right at the cabin, but she was very belligerent and rude to us. I sent an email to the management thinking theyi might like to know, but there was no apology for providing inadequate lodging. They did admit that their receptionist MIGHT have been undertrained. They got our $140 this time --no chance we will ever stay there again.

After watching far too much television, one of the things that I have wanted to do is go through the swamps on an air-boat. We found Mcgees on a website and booked ourselves onto a tour. I loved every moment of it, it's just a shame that it was too hot for much of the wildlife all though we did get to see one 12ft gator. I thought it was good value and enjoyed it. Would happily do this again.

While we wanted to take a swamp tour, I was a bit nervous about taking a 3 and 7 year old in a small boat. I knew that air boats were out because of the inability to converse due to the noise. McGee's landing had a large boat and a 1 1/2 hour tour which is plenty long for kids. They enjoyed seeing the wildlife especially the alligators but the highlight was when they were able to steer to boat. The cost of the tour is reasonable and the kids will never forget their time in the swamp.

Had fun with family on our first "swamp tour". Learned about the history of the Atchafalaya Basin, saw a few 'gators and enjoyed some spectacular scenery. Entertaining Skipper & tour guide who had a few good Boudreaux & Thibidoux jokes also. Family business. Polite, friendly & attentive cajun hosts. Restaurant with live band looked fun too. Going to try the airboat next time.

This is my second trip with them this month. The first was a manager outing with my fellow Chilis managers. I was so impressed that I took my parents a week later. On both occasions we chose the airboat ride verse the swamp tour option. This is suitable for all age groups and I was suprised how much I enjoyed it. The boat does travel quite fast in spots and is very loud but the provided head sets help and I felt safe at all times. The natural beauty of the area is impressive, as was the amount of wildlife that we saw. I have lived in Louisiana for several years and felt that the trip was well worth the money. Its amazing how we often forget to be a " tourist" in our own state.
