We visited this attraction in March 2015. Unfortunately, because the "Summer Season" had not yet started it was very quiet. It is a very interesting little place but we were disappointed to find The Anvil appears to have been moved into the Cottage. Shops OK but rather expensive for the 'close season' café a little on the pricey side. Seems they would like to take advantage of a 'captive clientele'. Worth a visit but probably better between May & September.

Very enlightening look into by-gone days. It's part of a local historical complex, including the Louisiana Fire Museum..

Liked that I was asked to officially Witness a couple's marriage whilst visiting the Blacksmiths at Gretna Green

Very cute place and their restaurant had decently priced food that was pretty good. It was quick service so you don't have to spend most of your time trying to eat.

you can feel the charm of grenta green and the blacksmiths shop adds to it! the shops offer a wide range of goods and different to what you see in everyday shops. maybe be overpriced but then if its something you want its probably not!!! defitatly worth a visit and somewhere to go back to.

Bought a Harris Tweed handbag online which clearly stated was in stock. A week after making payment and waiting on delivery received an email to say it was not in stock and a refund was being arranged. No offer of an alternative, poor customer service and over a week later and still no refund.

The shops, toilets and eatery were all excellent but the Blacksmiths shop was truely dreadful. Tatty, dusty, decrepit displays (wigs slipped sideways, clothes dusty, things broken), more audio visual displays that didn't work than did work. If you want shopping then visit but take your photos in the car park of the outside of the smithy and save the entrance money for something more worthy. This was just commercialisation at it's extreme.

Visited here today and had an enjoyable time. The museum was very interesting. Having 'known' about Gretna Green for all of my life, it was good to finally get there and really learn something about the place and its history. I enjoyed reading the letters that had been written to the blacksmith over the years in particular. The carriages were very interesting to see too.Other than the museum, it was mainly shops and restaurants that were very expensive. It was very 'touristy'. The coach park is enormous so I guess that it can be really crowded there at times.

Massive shopping centre so found it all a bit disappointing. Toilets were huge and nice and clean so that's always a bonus.

I've visited here many times over the years but have seen a big change since I last visited. To say the attraction has become over-commercialised is an understatement. The emphasise is now on shopping. Don't get me wrong, the development of the attraction is lovely, with a nice courtyard area etc but not really in keeping with what the Blacksmith shop at Gretna is all about. The Blacksmith shop itself was, in my opinion, overpriced. I did not feel comfortable walking through the very small "museum" as the whole time I was aware of the fact that I was sharing this space with a couple who were getting married!!! The only privacy afforded the couple and their families was a shabby green curtain. I felt as if I should be 'tip-toeing' around in case we disturbed the couple. The second part of the museum houses many carriages but surprisingly there were three further marriage rooms!! You could hear couples exchanging vows as you walked past. As visitors to a museum we felt uncomfortable that we were intruding and imposing on one of the most important days of a couples lives. We left the carriage room without looking at any of the carriages. I do not want to disrespect any person who has been married, is to be married or dreams of marrying at the Blacksmith shop at Gretna so all I will say is that it's not mine nor my partner's idea of a romantic wedding. We spent less than an hour here and that was more than enough time.

Visited here with mum and young adult son on 28th Aug 2014. Thoroughly enjoyed our morning. Plenty to look at, and though not all affordable, we managed to find gifts for family and friends that didn't damage the purse. A lovely morning coffee in the restaurant, and takeaway sandwiches enjoyed in the sunny courtyard. Photos with the Piper and friend, and all stff polite and friendly.

Unfortunately we spent so long looking round the shops that by the time we got to the Blacksmith's at 4.30 it was closed! Probably a good thing as I had already spent £40 on a beautiful jewellery box and £18 on a pretty apron...! Hopefully we will visit again.

Good shops for buying things made in Scotland. Toilets facilities are very clean, At lunchtime, the restaurant is a bit busy causing long queue to pay for food bought

This is a charming little place but other than visit the gift shop & café we found little to do. An enjoyable, memorable visit all the same.

If you enjoy shopping then this experience is for you, if not then avoid. Extremely touristy and looked like a wedding was about to take place. Fine for a 15 minute pitstop before heading further into Scotland.
