The drive around the lake provides great opportunity for birding. There are ducks and upland birds galore.

Stunningly beautiful flocks of waterbirds kept up a constant clamor and kaleidoscope of color and sound. Worth a visit even in intermittent snow and rain!

This is an example of what Wildlife Refuges should be all over the world! Interesting wildlife, birds, plants and flowers along the entire route. Well identified stops and informative signage throughout the entire park. The road is well designed and maintained. The views are spectacular and the peace of the area is outstanding. A true treasure found while visiting Montana!

This is an outstanding prairie National Wildlife Refuge. Lots of birds (most of the year), deer, antelope and even the occasional moose.
