Hauser Lake is one of three local lakes. You can sit on one of the several small 'beaches', motor boat, ski, or try your hand at jet skiing. There are several places to launch your boat, and camp grounds to put your trailer. The best time to enjoy the water is the evenings, when the daytime boaters have left.

Hauser Lake is just minutes from Helena, MT and provides beautiful scenery, a great campground, and quaint walking trails. Although Hauser offers several campgrounds, Devil's Elbow provides the biggest spots, the facilities (benches, outhouses, picnic tables, trails) are super clean and the trails are short, but scenic. I did not give an excellent rating since I am scoring the lake as a whole- the fishing isn't spectacular, but may be better at other times of year.

We really enjoyed the boat tour at the Gateway of the mountains. The guide pointed out some very scenic features, and knew a lot about the Missouri River. The best part of the boat trip was when a group of about six pretty young females zipped by us on a smaller boat and mooned the people on the boat. I will never forget this experience.

Take time to enjoy the Gate To the Mountains Boat Tour. Beautiful scenery, lots of information about area geology, history (Lewis and Clark Expedition route) of the area. Eagles and other wild life can be seen. It was interesting, relaxing and fun entertainment.

We enjoyed Hauser Lake so much that we went back the second night. The water is crystal clear and gorgeous. It's the perfect spot to relax, fish, swim, boat, jog or hike - all within the city limits!

Loved this place but was told that the place is packed during summer season. Great in late May on a warm 70ish degree day. Also, if you are into bats, there is a bat roost somewhere on, in or near the old stone building on the opposite side of the dam. Walk there at dusk and check it out.

This is the second of the three impoundment's of the Missouri River.

This place has many well kept up camp sites available. The serenity of the lake is wonderful and not usually over crowded. I here fishing is quite good there. Enjoy!
