Needing a place to stretch our legs from a long drive and having read reviews on tripadvisor, we decided to stop. The animal museum was outstanding! Not big in space, but tons of animals. Very impressive. There was also an amazing collection of photographs by Charles Kelly on the 2nd floor. Great info from Stephanie in the office as well. Plan to stop again with friends.

I had no idea about these museums before I got there. The 3 I am referring to are "The William Cross Museum" The Henkelmann Wildlife Science Museum" and The Sports Museum @ The Partriot Restaurant" All three will amuse you for hours. There was not a soul around the day we stayed on April 17,2013 and is was pouring down rain and 37 degrees so a perfect day not to rush out of the building. I especially loved the Animals. A close up look at them and what there names were called. That will be a big hit with any age kid.

If you stop by the in to eat at the nice restaurant they have a small museum in the same building. It is a great review of the way things used to be in the area. If you have a little time and are in the area, it's worthwhile.

A small museum but full of information. Not boring. Lead guide, named Pam was very helpful and over the top with networking with the locals. She gave us instructions how to get to the locals to buy some Appalachia
