I went here with a couple of buddies and had a blast. This was my first time going to KC or a open range design but I loved it. It reminded me of the way the Marine Corps runs a lot of their ranges. I recommend bringing your old milk jugs or laundry detergent so you can shoot them. Range time is cheap but you can spend some money on targets! I will be back and I recommend this gun range to my friends and family.

A great place to go to fire various types of guns and rifles, especially if you are a beginner The Machine Gun Shoot is also worth a visit if you are in the area when it is on.

I found this place on the internet and was so anxious to take my older teenage son there. The first part of our experience was very good. It is a nice gun shop. I love the fact that you can rent any of their used guns to shoot on the range and I believe my son was able to decide on the next gun he is going to buy. My son has had his carry permit for over a year and understands gun safety well. The range fee, rental fees and ammo prices seem fair. The events that they have seem like they would be incredibly fun. The first person who helped us was informative, helpful, educational and all fears that I had coming in to a new place that we were not familiar with were easily put to rest. Most of our time on the range was enjoyable and the range officer was strict, fair and we greatly appreciate the seriousness and safety that he provided on the range. Everything from this point on are our personal feelings about how we were treated and I personally still would recommend the gun range to others, we just didn't leave with a good feeling. At the last clearing that we were there for the range officer seemed to walk up and make the announcement while standing by and looking directly at my son, probably because he noticed we were working with a gun that we weren't as familiar with as we'd like to be. My son was trying to figure out how to get the last bullet removed from the gun and the range officer came over and helped him. My son apologized and thanked him but the range officer just waved him off and didn't say anything. Not really a big deal, we are still happy that safety is a top priority. We decided to go in and rent a different gun. They had one that my son would have loved to have rent. We turned our gun in, one employee was helping another person. The other employee took our gun and walked away. We waited, he walked back past us and the phone rang and he went to answer it. No big deal. So myself, my father and my son just sat down at a bench and waited. The range officer was walking through on his way back out to the range. The two employees went to the other side of the store and when the range officer saw us sitting there, he walked back in to stand at the counter and make sure we weren't going to steal anything. ??? I understand what could have happened if customers were left alone in an open room of merchandise but I have never felt so completely singled out. He could have made a little small talk with us not to make it so obvious but no, he just stood there until an employee came back and then left. When one of the employees came back, we told him we would like to rent another gun. First he told my son he couldn't rent it because of his age which I understand the laws completely, but I could rent it and buy the ammo and he could shoot it as their website stated. Then he made it seem like the ammo was too expensive but that was not an issue for us, we just wanted to try the gun out. Then after I gave him my ID, he said he needed our car keys also. My elderly mother and sister were waiting in the car, so we didn't have the car keys with us as it was a very hot day. I understand rules and why they would do that but there was nothing on the website that stated we needed the car keys to rent the gun. I told my son just to go get my keys out of the van (even though they were for a vehicle that wasn't there). At that point, my son decided just to skip it, because he felt it was inappropriate to get keys for a vehicle that wasn't there, even though I said that in front of the employee. They are in a serious business and have to provide serious safety and my feelings about the way we were treated don't really amount to much. We haven't really been to many gun shops/ranges where the employees are really overly friendly but that was the first time that we have ever been made to feel the way we did. We were prepared to spend a lot more money there than we did and I had hoped that we would continue to visit many times but I doubt that we will return just due to feeling uncomfortable shopping and shooting there. I realize it's not their job to make us feel all warm and fuzzy, but I'd prefer not to be made to feel like a criminal/idiot either. I still respect what they do and provide for gun owners and enthusiasts.

I had heard about this place for over a decade from a couple of co-workers, and just never had the time to make it down for one of bi-annual machine gun shoots. Then after seeing the reality "GUNTUCKY" show that was filmed here by CMT, I decided I needed to make time to check it out. So whatever vision of a stereotype that pops into your head after hearing the name of the reality show, it is more than likely dead on. On any other weekend this is just a normal gun shop with a gun range, but twice a year they have multiple sessions of full auto firearms firing non-stop for several minutes at a time. The machine shoots are three day events, I was only able to go down for Friday the first day of the event. It would seem that if you are interested in stocking up on ammo, Friday is the day to go. If you are interested in firing a Full Auto firearms, you need to show up on Saturday. They have several different types of shooting competitions going on throughout the weekend. There is also an antique military and gun show going on all weekend with many vendors selling all types of firearms and firearms related items. I meet and spoke with several members of the family that is in the reality show, everyone was very nice and professional despite the visible stress on them during the event. There was plenty of volunteers around to help you with any needs or questions. There was plenty of access to food and restroom facilities on the property. Despite it being a major gathering of gun nuts, all weapons were checked and disabled with zip ties upon enter the range. There were families all around, so it would be a good event to take the wife and kids to. It is definitely worth checking out, Saturday is when they have a night shoot. Lots of tracer rounds and explosions, but I've only seen video of this. I'll be back I'm sure!!!!

This is a must-go for all fans of shooting. There are Machine Gun Shoot's twice a year (spring and fall). It's hard to compare these to anything else because there is nothing like it.

Ever since I saw my first WW II movie, I have had a thing for machine guns, but have never been around one. This year we went to Knob Creek and enjoyed the experience immensely. One day was plenty. The rest of the week we played golf, went to museums, Maker's Mark Distillery, and ate lot of great foodTip........bring ear muffs or buy some at the range. Ear plugs don't touch the sound levels that a .50 cal puts out

They have 2 machine gun shoots and gun shows each year, Spring and Fall. This needs to be on everyone's "A" list for top 10 events. You can rent machine buy guns, buy machine guns, and get lots of questions answered from on ATF officials.

This was a lot of fun. Friends, family all went down. Very affordable food. Unique things to see and do. We've been multiple times and every new person that goes finds they are glad they did at least once.I forget how I ever got started attending the twice-annual MG shoot. But when the weather is nice, it's always been a fun thing to do. Parking is a struggle for any cars if anything but dry. And it can back up all along the main paved road. That's just the beginning of the hike. But well worth it. Again, if you like this type of thing, I encourage you to go the the MG shoot.Helicopters, cannons, minis, you name it. They shoot it. Sometimes flamethrowers, often times wrecks of cars, and major household appliances are the targets and their projectiles. One can search web videos for more perspective. A vendor area sells jerky, flags, war memorabilia, and of course MGs! If you have a spare $15,000 - $25,000 lying around, you can own one. (All laws apply of course)Once you buy your very own, you can sign up and participate in sub-G target practice. Or take a stroll through the simulated jungle and shoot targets. Just want to get a feel for what it's like to shoot a real MG? Well, starting at roughly $40 you can fire off a full magazine in a few seconds.$2 hot dogs, pretzels, $3-4 burgers or chicken sandwiches will cheaply keep you fed throughout the day as night time approaches for the equivalent of a firework show. The most interesting part is to see the variety of people, and those from other countries visiting, being in and among all the various items. People carry (safely zip-tie'd) ARs, Tommys, etc all around you. Work in a visit with other area events and it can be a very memorable excursion.

The range of weapons available to shoot is mind-blowing. There are civil war cannons, 50 caliber gatling guns, 20mm cannons, sawed off shotguns, AK-47s, and even a huey. These are fully automatic weapons. The downside of the event is that it is so packed that if you are not up front, you will barely see anything. We were lucky enough to have a telescoping mount for our GoPro, so we could video the shoots above the crowds. Without it, we would have not seen hardly anything. If you have ever wanted to shoot an automatic weapon, this is the place to go!

The folks who work here are always nice and safety is top priority on the range. The range fees are reasonable and if you come more than 10 times a year a membership pays for itself - especially if you bring family members. Members also get extra perks like discounts, Christmas party, etc. Gun prices aren't always the lowest in the area but aren't super-high either.

We are avid gun owners. Having been to many ranges this one is our favorite. Safety is by far the number one rule in our book. Other things we look for include: public access, range fees,$10 pp here, merchandice store, cleaniness, staff availability, organization to the ranges, long range shooting and other minor things This range has all of these things. For most, safety. A range officer calls all cease fires. When this occurs everyone must put weapons down with a chamber flag in place or cylinders unloaded and open. We step behind a red line and he walks the line checking every table. No one moves until told to. He will then give the all clear for down range. No one touches any weapons at this time or you are gone. We are always aware of surroundings of course but this helps with organizaton. If you can take your own target stands. Knob creek offers cardboard stands, but they usually fall over or are shot up bad. The range property has items all over. This stuff is for the big machine gun shoot, in April or October. This visit the store was crazy nuts. Customers all over waiting, but few staff to help. They need a number system or something. People waiting to pay for merchandise or range fees got lost in the firearm sales mess. This would be a complaint, but glad to see firearms selling. Some of the staff seemed a little over whelmed but heck it was crazy. We plan to return.

When i first got there i saw a lot of junk everywhere , didn't really bother me that much, but when i got inside the guy that helped me was very helpful ,but the other 3 guys there where smoking behind the counter and i saw a least two burned out cigarettes laying on the display cases, the first item i looked at had so much nicotine on it i had to wash my hands . went to the concession to get drink and food . i was told to walk behind the counter and i could get it.

Notice I say used to be. I understand the owner had to get a range officer crew for insurance purposes. But he didn't have to get a bunch of cranky old men with attitude problems. This used to be a fun place now it is like so regimented and threatening it is hard to enjoy. Still fun to shoot but I shoot else where now. Still has gun gun prices and the guys inside for the most part are pretty decent. This review is by no means trying to be a put down just an honest opinion of my take on the place lately.
