Smothers Park what can I say, not much to do except look at the river. I liked it better before When it had real trees. There is no shade down there , so if you have any Health problems related to heat sensitivity you won't be able to walk around down there very long.

This park is the new riverfront project that is absolutely fabulous. There's a really cool playground for the kids, Two bands in the summer on Friday nites, fountains and great places to eat nearby You can sit in the oversized metal swings and watch the sunset on the Ohio or the boats passing by. Meet friendly faces and just walk! Amazing riverfront for Owensboro!

Smothers Park is an exceptional addition to Owensboro. Set downtown on the Ohio River, it's a wonderful park for young and old. The children can climb up into the Baobab trees and play on the above ground walkways, as well as the unique types of monkey bars and slides. The soft rubber playground and beautiful, life-like artificial turf make it very safe to play on. For the adults, there are swings overlooking the river, as well as mesmerizing dancing fountains. There is also a snack bar and a shell for concerts. My grandkids beg to go here and we always give our out of town guests a tour of this beautiful park.

I've lived here for over 3 years now and Smothers Parks was in it's infancy when I arrived. We looked forward to the park being finished and at times it seemed it would never be done. The downtown was torn up for a long time and businesses must have lost money. But finally it was complete. We went down expecting the grandest of grand. What we experienced was much less. The park is geared for children with the very large play area. The fountains are never turned on, unless there is a special event. The water fall has already had repairs and the swings & chairs are burning hot in the summer and ice cold in the winter (silver metal). The swings are nice but they squeak so loud it hurts your ears. And the concession stand is hardly ever open. The soda machine won't take cash or cards. It's been broken since the park opened. AND they claim to have "free wifi" well every time we've been there (which is a dozen times or so) we not only cannot get on the "free wifi" but we can't even bring up our own ATT 4g until we get to 2nd or 3rd st's. So forget posting things to facebook or twitter. There is one thing that has changed for the better. This past fall they past a law that people can't smoke in our parks. We would be walking around and sure enough someone would be smoking and a big puff of smoke would come our way. All in all the park is nice, they keep it clean and all. But if something isn't going on, it's a 5 minute walk through and you're done.Sorry I wish I could say better things about it, but it just isn't so.S. O.

Beautiful fountains and a cool place for the kids to play. I love walking through the park. Nice park areas, and several restaurants to pick up lunch for a picnic

Whether a hot summer's day, a breezy Autumn afternoon or a starlit Winters night, or a sweet Spring day, the atmosphere at Smothers Park is always inviting. A park for all ages with a play area for the children, beautiful water fountains, a band shell for receptions and entertaining, a nice Veterans Memorial, tables for picnics or snacks, a smooth sidewalk for long walks or short runs, benches for relaxing or solving the world's ills, and even an old piano sits in a corner pavilion beckoning the tickling of the ivories. The park is a prime pinnacle of placidity and fun ribboned by the grand Ohio River.

This is the best park I've ever been to! The play area is very neat in that it is all connected and there are different levels, depending on age. I noticed that there is also a handicap accessible swing that could accommodate virtually all sizes. Very, very nice park! I highly recommend it!

This new, multi-million dollar park is incredible. The childrens playground is state of the art. The fountains and benches placed around the park faced the river. The benches were swings and there were lots of them. Nice concession stand and very clean bathrooms were a nice touch. Very well lighted and safety patroled made me feel very safe.

This is a park you want to visit. Great place for the children. Beautiful water fountains that are timed. Nice place to sit on one of the many swings and relax. We were there in late summer but bet this place gets crowded in the hot summer days. Owensboro did a great design creating this space.

Gorgeous views of the Ohio River. The children's play area and spray park are awesome . There is live music several times every week in a variety of venues. Fountains and breathtaking sunsets make this a fabulous place to meet friends and family.

I love this park! It's so cute and fun. I love to take my best friend's little boy here to play. I really like how they have the park catered to all different ages so that even the younger kids can play!

You can tell the city and residence take a lot of pride in this park. I walked through in the morning and there was not one piece of litter, and lots of people come here to walk. There is a really cool playground for kids, it made me wish I were 5 years old again! There are swinging benches for people to sit and watch their kids, or read, or soak in the sun. The view of the river was quite lovely and there is a dedication to the armed forces. It makes me wish I lived closer- I don't have anything this spectacular close to my home.
