A real nice wine setting hidden from I-64 by trees among the horse farms in Woodford County. The wine servers were friendly during the sampling, which was $7 for six. The Reisling was the best of them. If you one who prefers wine over bourbon then come here.

After shopping and lunch in Midway we decided to drive a couple of miles at check out this winery. Very nice small winery off the beaten path. The tasting room was full when we arrived. One of the staff took us to the side, explained the process then offered to seat us outside to wait for a place at the tasting bar. It was a beautiful day so we agreed. We actually got to stay on the patio and do the tasting. She definitely went above and beyond regular tasting service. Afterwards we walked the grounds. If you are looking for a relaxing, personalized tasting experience, this is the place. We took 4 bottles home with us!

the location is fabulous and the events are great. Unfortunately the wine is only passable. Hey in KY we are known for bourbon, bluegrass and blue ribbon horse racing.

In one year this place has doubled in size. Free wine tastings, up to 6 different wines. You get to pick which 6 you want to taste. There is a small patio that you can picnic at. The grounds are pretty and weddings are held in the gardens. The wine is about $16.00 a bottle an less if you buy a case. There is also a frequent buyer club discount. The lady at the tasting counter was helpful and directing me on the "Blue Grass" trail through the horse farm country and great directions to Midway. A nice way to spend a leisure day in the country.

Most east of the Mississippi wine in America is so sweet it might as well be Kool-Aide. Not Equus Run.Equus Run makes legit wine. I'm a wine club member, I live in PA so they legally can't ship to me, but I'm committed to visiting at least once a year, that's how good it is. Official Kentucky Derby artwork is available yearly on their bottles so it is an amazing collector's item. The grounds are beautiful. Creek running along the property line is beautiful. Great place for a stroll. They list the grape types in their vineyard so you can really do some self educating. This is also the place I got engaged. The folks at Equus Run don't know that. And I'm not telling where, but somewhere on their grounds is a place so perfect and wonderful that it seemed a perfect place to change my life. Go here. Buy wine. Drink wine. Enjoy.

We stopped at this winery and vineyard on our way back from a trip to Midway Ky for antiques and fun in an old early american town. We were very pleased with our stop even though we had never heard of the winery/vineyards. The young lady doing the tasting was so pleasant and made us feel so welcome. We did a tasting of most of the wines and bought several bottles. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL gardens and worth a stop just to enjoy them! beautiful bistro patio with wrought iron table for wine and cheese under the grape vines and shade trees. Wines were good: aliitle expensive compared to Lovers Leap pricing.....actually like Lovers Leap better..... 7.00 wine tasting fee

I stopped by again this year to this quaint little boutique winery and fell in love with it again. They are in the process of finishing the newly enlarged tasting room (which was badly needed), and was greeted promptly by their employees. The room was a little busy, but we didn't have to wait too long. We were sad that they didn't have any Vidal Blanc, but we understand that their top selling wines can run out from time to time. It is obvious that the owner is trying to take this winery to the next level by the looks of not only the tasting room, but the grounds in general. Kentucky has had strange weather this year so the vines aren't as full as they were last time we were there. (But still pretty). We walked down to their Event Barn, where they had music on the patio. The patio was filled with people having a great time and the musicians were very engaging. I will continue to stop and visit this little slice of Heaven when time permits. Please take time to stop and enjoy Equus Run and don't be in a hurry or you will miss the experience!

We visited Equus Run winery last week upon the suggestion of a friend (he's still our friend, though we won't take any wine suggestions from him).I have never tasted worse wine. The winery is also a venue for music. Thank goodness we weren't there for any of that. We sampled 6 wines for $7, a fair price for something palatable. My first selection was the"oak" chardonnay. When I smelled it, I thought I was going to vomit. Nasty is the only word to describe the smell and the taste. The next wine was sauvignon blanc. It tasted like rancid vinegar. The red wines were literally tasteless. They didn't make the nasty scale, but I'd just soon drink drain cleaner. They had a "dessert wine", some red wine/chocolate concoction. Take some cocoa powder and shake it up in your cabernet, and voila -- Equus Run dessert wine. Yuck! The prices for the bottles were laughable - $13 to $22. I can only feel sorry for Kentuckians who have this winery as an example of their state's wine producers. This sounds like a mean spirited review, but I'm not that way. I just had to speak out when I have encountered something so awful. And by the way, their vineyards look sad, neglected, weedy and decrepit.

This was our last stop on our way out of town on our spur-of-the-moment Lexington wine trail trip. It was nicely situated among the rolling horse farms of Lexington. It was very crowded on Sunday, July 5th around 1. I mean, I know that's prime wine-tasting time, but they should've been staffed more appropriately as we had to stand around for 10 minutes, wiating for folks to clear out. The website had indicated that it didn't have food, but that picnics were welcome. We'd been to a breakfast place and brought some cranberry nut pancakes with us to eat with our wine. It seemed like a good theory and made sense at the time, but was NOT a great idea in reality. It's a beautiful place, with funky horse statues and a very nice open air "stadium;" I bet it's great to see a band there. I drank the Chardonnay while there, and my boyfriend liked the Riesling. However, the stand-out for me was their Red Zinfandel. I learned a little about the owner-wine-maker: she'd retired early from IBM to make wines. It does my soul good to hear about folks following their dreams and finding success. We'll return, hopefully, to find a band playing. We just need to plan a better picnic.

On the recommendation of some people we met in Bardstown, we made our way to Equus Run Vineyards. I know - a vineyard in Kentucky? Well, yes indeed, and they make some very nice wines. We sampled a number of red and whites, and settled on a bottle of Oak Chardonnay and the “Passionate Kiss” – a desert wine of Cabernet Sauvignon infused with dark chocolate. Wished we had bought more!

Beautiful Kentucky Sunday tasting wine, listening to music outside, and having a picnic in a delightful setting! Busy at the tasting counters but no crowd to fight...just a relaxing experience! Greg was behind one of the tasting counters and he provided great service and attention. Great day!

We happened to arrive on a day they were doing construction of an addition which diminished the normally peaceful setting for a bottle of wine. The wine is varied and good. The staff is friendly and attentive even though they were so busy we could barely get a spot at the tasting bar. (They do need the above mentioned addition).

We had the pleasure of visiting the winery last year on our return to Texas from Virginia. This was our first visit, but not the last. We made sure our return route included Midway, Virginia, and of course Equus Run. Leslee is an amazing host and made our wine tasting quite an adventure. The wines are very high quality wines and our favorite is the chocolate dessert wine, Kisses. This is a must taste when visiting!! Leslee went out of her way to help us find hotel accommodations and a restaurant (you have to visit The Heirloom). This vineyard is well worth your time and effort to visit.
