The Park is beautiful. We lived in Jamestown with my wife for almost 5 years and we have enjoyed the Cumberland resort Park. The forest, the lake, the peaceful and cleanness at any time of the year. The accommodation and restaurant are basics, but enough to enjoy your stay at the park. I highly recommend you to expend some days there. The entire area is beautiful!!!

Had my first Kentucky Hot Brown here at the restaurant and it was wonderful. The lodge is beautiful and the actual park is huge. You can also rent these huge houseboats, stay on them and take them out on the lake. Very cool.

Even though I spent a lot of time growing up in this area, my family and I visited Cumberland Falls a lot. It's a beautiful area offering a lot of easy hiking. I say easy as in, beginners and children can accomplish it but anyone with a difficulty walking can not. There are tons of uneven stairs, slippery areas, and valleys and hills. Near the parking lot is an ice cream place and a tourist shop filled with cute knick knacks. I encourage anyone within an hour of Cumberland Falls to definitely stop by and see. Also, it is one of only two places in the world, the other place being Victoria Falls in Africa, where a moonbow can be seen on the falls at night.

We had the opportunity to go to kentucky to see the leaves change. We decided to make reservations at this park. What a wonderful time we had. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Our cabin had everything we needed. Very clean and comfortable. We had one small issue which was handled very quickly. The only bad thing was that we had to come home. I would absolutely recommend a visit to everyone.

In response to so many reviews which were not complimentary and which I read before leaving for a five day stay, I feel I have to refute the bad reviews on the foods and uncomfortable mattresses. My daughter had not been there for 13 years and were a little apprehensive about what we would find,in the food line. We have stayed at the park many times and had always enjoyed the buffet and menu items. We were very pleased to find the buffets very good and the menu items were also very good. We had four dinners and 3 breakfasts while we were there. Buffets offered four meat selections. The menu offered several selections with two specials each day. Side items on menu and buffet were limited to about six and all were very flavorful. Five desserts were offered each night which were very good. The breakfast buffet included bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs.potatoes, grits and biscuits and gravy. There was.a large fruit bar with cereals.

Back at Lake Cumberland, this time in the Lure Lodge instead of a cabin. The pros of staying in the lodge instead of a cabin are the convince of the restaurant, the indoor pool, the game room, daily housekeeping and the view. The cons not as must privacy as in the cabin. We were able to hear the conversations of people in the room next door and slamming of doors. You get the same thing in older hotels which don’t have the insulation between the walls of newer hotels. If you want a view of the lake from your room this is the place to stay. The cabins do not always offer this view but the woods are very dense. Plus the cabins allow you to grill and prepare your own meals. But some observations about Lake Cumberland State Park, the lake is the reason to go there for 95% of the people, but the park also had a group of people who don’t own boats that just want to experience fresh air and nature occasionally. Yes we are city slickers who like the comforts of home with the rustic experiences of nature. Some of the things that bothered me on this trip include the restaurant only offering buffet during breakfast and dinner. One of the things that for years people looked forward to was after dinner going out to the patio and watching the animals come up and beg for food, I don’t know what happened to these animals but while there for three days we saw one deer and one groundhog. People and children used to like sitting there watching the raccoons, I don’t know if the park cleared this area of the animals but they are missed.Moving the gift shop from the lodge to the general store does not help tell people they want them to stay and experience Kentucky products and goods. Even though the gift shop had very little in it this time because of the pending move it still is a welcome sign to guests. The State Dock is growing and growing but there is no reason to turn the once in a while guest away by making them park ¼ mile away on a weekday when there is parking in a lot that says for slip renters only, and then placing a card on their windows saying they can be fined and hauled away. Five vehicles were in the lot on a Thursday that could hold over hundred cars. This does not say welcome to guest. They replaced the golf course several years ago with a Frisbee course. While there for three days never witnessed anyone playing plus I went looking for a Frisbee to play and could not find one in the park store. They are using correction occupants on work release to clean property and pool area Nothing says welcome to Kentucky like a Orange jump suited man cleaning the pool with prisoner on his back. What I am trying to say is they are letting one of Kentucky’s most beautiful parks become a stale business catering to the rich boat owners and houseboat renters. They need to find ways of bringing people to the lodge and cabins. It is nice to be able to get on the internet and get a room the next day, but I remember when you had to book this park months in advance.

Beautiful lake with hundreds of private coves and awesome water skiing and tubing adventures await. Warm water, clear clean and spectacular scenery with marina's dotted along the lake to refuel, restock and pick up more of whatever you need. Find a secluded cove, hook up and explore this relatively undisturbed part of the US.

Pros: Very nice state park, rooms were worth the price, buffet had decent quality food. Awesome views, not that crowded, even on a "busy weekend". Free wifi was good, as was pool. Everything needed was in walking distance. Lots of wildlife.Cons: Buffet was a little pricey. Had to run out to get some diaper cream, was a 30 minute drive to dollar general store.Arrived at 2:30ish to check into the room we reserved online. Had to wait until 3:00PM to check in. No big deal, they could have been a little clearer on the exact check-in time. Rooms were nicer than expected, with a private balcony view of the lake. The indoor pool was a treat, although small (3.5 ft. - 9ft. in depth). We arrived on Saturday, the lake was semi-busy but we were able to find a few hours in the pool in the afternoon for our 2 year old to swim as well as get a excellent window seat at the lodge dining facility. On the walk out we spotted a few deer just below the lodge balcony. They didn't bother to run away as we walked by them. There was a playground nearby, but we didn't have time to check it out.

We recently visited Lake cumberland, decided to have dinner at the state park Lure lodge. In years past the Buffett was excellent, something we always looked forward too. Many of the items were no longer on the Buffett. Basic items offered such as corn, kale greens, pinto beans, all of which had not been seasoned. 3 meats were offered. Fried chicken which was either over cooked or warmed over from lunch. Baked catfish was floating in water. Roast beef was dry and no gravy to go with it. The salad bar was pretty much the same. 9.00 would have been acceptable, but the Buffett was13.99 with drink extra. There were several staff members standing around talking, we had to ask for someone to get drink order, then again for butter. I realize cut backs were necessary in the sate parks, but LakeCumberland is probably the largest lake in Ky with a tremendous amount of boat traffic. It's a beautiful Park, a beautiful lake and a beautiful lodge, Improve the Buffett or I can see this dining room forced to close, then the lodge it's self as there are no other restaurants visitors to go, people will stop staying there, and that would be a shame.

It was a nice park,a lot of activities that we enjoyed, we had a group of 15, we tried the camping with tents, and it was lovely,,,,the wildlife were out,,not harmful,,we did this horseback riding, the staff their were really nice,,,we wanted to rent a pontoon boat or jetskis, but they were all rented out,,next time we will make reservations, the restroom was clean in the morning but later could have been 're-cleaned. We only had one problem,,as we checked in and paid for our sites,,another group said they had the same spot that we paid for,so we go back to get it fix,,,the attendant was really nice, but the campground host wasn't,,discussing what happened with attendant and other group,,,the host came and told us that we had to move from spot, not even seeing who had paid for spot first, the ranger was called,,after all that, the other group hadn't even paid anything,,,so the hostess an butt, and the ranger told us if we have any problems with the host,,send in a complaint
