One of the best beaches around. Waves can be a little much for children but a great family beach. There are bathroom facilities and changing rooms available.

East Beach in Charlestown, RI is probably one of the nicest beaches in Rhode Island.Parking lot fills up quickly. New beach facility is very nice. Can walk for several miles in either direction. Very few rocks in the water or along the shore. Perfect place to take the family.

This beach is good for the sun bather being right on the Atlantic. However I do not recommend this for kids. There was one kid that got badgered by a wave and almost swept away if i hadn't been there to reach for his arm that was sticking out of the water. It is a great beach for Teens and Adults who seek body surfing. BIG waves meets steep inline of the sand... can be dangerous. BUT it is a really nice beach. Sand was awesome and the breeze was welcomed.

We visited while camping at Burlingame State Park. Overall a very nice beach. Not knowing the area, we parked at the 'town' beach area but it was a nice easy walk up to the state park park section of the beach. The beach was clean and not crowded. Great for relaxing. Not a good beach for shells though. We thought the neatest find was the salt pond area: Very quiet and relaxing since it is off the beaten trail. Well worth the drive.

East Beach was a pleasure to visit. Small parking area keeps the beach area enjoyable, not over crowded. The beach was clean and the facilities were up to date. We were very impressed and will be returning. Water and beach area were perfect, day was a total success. We brought a picnic lunch and I recommend that you do if you visit as there is only a hot dog cart there for food.

This is a great open ocean beach & definitely cheaper & less crowded than the bigger state beaches (Misquamicut).Usually big waves to ride & a short walk will take you to a huge salt pond. Fun for the kiddo's! Clams, crabs, wind surfers & real warm water!

One of the biggest changes was the new facility for bathrooms and outside shower. Those were a plus for sure. I just was surprised that the weekend parking was $20.00. At that it is hard to get a spot on some summer weekends. The food stand is gone but replaced with a little hotdog truck type vehicle with minimum choices. It has been about 2 years since I was there. I was glad to see that the beach area was reconstructed after the horrible storms.

Went down after 5 to wind down for the day, take photos and relax. Not busy at all and parking was not a problem.

East Beach is about 3 miles long with the Atlantic on one side and a slat pond on the other.Beautiful view of the ocean looking out to Block Island. Get there early since the State parking lot hold only about 100 cars, you park down the road at Blue Shutters Beach and walk back to East Beach. Because of the limited parking you are almost certain to be able to have plenty of space to put down you blanket with not many people around you. Be advised at the entry into the water there is a sharp drop off.

Absolutely gorgeous beach. I hear there is bit of a riptide though so watch out!Very clean soft sand and blue green water.

Beautiful RI state beach. Parking area is small, to need to get there early. Because of the limited parking..the beach is never crowded! It also has a salt water ocean side and another smaller pond area to swim in. A definite if visiting Rhode Island beaches!

Best beach we saw on our trip to Rhode Island. Beautiful views. Easy to walk down to a quiet space to sit. Water was clean. If you cannot get a parking spot at East Beach because it is full, park at the lot before that, Blue Shutter I think, and you can walk down. Beautiful, not to be missed.

this is one of the last undeveloped barrier beaches in New England, just beautiful. Walk for miles and be alone , cool ocean water.

East Beach is a lovely New England beach and a favorite of ours for years. From the state parking area, you can access the beach as well as Ninigret Pond. The pond is excellent for young children as it is shallow and no waves. It is also good for kayaks or windsurfers. They have recently upgraded the restrooms - big upgrade. There is limited parking so you have to get there early but it keeps the beach from getting over crowded.
