My husband and I recently went to Portland for brewery weekend. We started off with Shipyard--We got there early and were the only ones there, We had a private tasting and he explained each of the beers we were trying. Really nice guy and showed us the production area as well (they were actually making soda that day) Very cool to see.Unlike some breweries, they had a really cool store area and very reasonable prices. Would recommend for any Maine brew adventure...Cheers.

I am not a fan of flavoring.. whether it is Beer or coffee or Potato chips. Plain is ok..All these things don't need. Added flavor. Flavoring hides or masks the true taste. Good or bad. My perception of Shipyard is the beer passes all tests, naturally. And flavoring it enhances this product. Very few Breweries can achieve such world class flavor. Judge it for yourself. 5 Stars. The gift shop was whimsical and the staff was super nice. .

This is a very fun place to do a free tasting and grab some beers to take home. There is no tour per se but there is a video tour you watch and after you get to do a tasting. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Whenever we stay up in Portland we usually stay at the Marriott next door, So we have taken this tour 3-4 times. (Shipyard Export is one of my favorite beers so no complaints by me)The tour is just "Ok" Most of it is watching a video of the history of the company and then you go downstairs to see the facility from a catwalk. Really do not get the chance to walk around to much like other brewery tours I took. The best part of the tour is the tasting at the end. Every time we go we get a great tour guide who knows a lot about all the different beers they have on draft. They are usually very generous with the pours, and if you go on a slow day, they are not pushy about moving you along for the next tour, they let you take your time and enjoy all of the beers. I am sure we will do it again next time we go to Portland.

Enjoyed the history of Shipyard & Sea Dog Brewing. The staff was fantastic even though it was 10 in the morning. They were all drinking coffee and we all wanted to taste beer. Shipyard in Portland is open 24 hours a day to help keep up with demand. They are located on the site where American Poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was born. There is so much history and thought in the brand. The tasting was fantastic and we learned a few new recipes. They also have a store on site that sells beer, soda and other items.Worth the trip to visit.

This is our 2nd visit to Shipyard Brewing Co. and we enjoyed it as much as the first visit. Beer tasting and explanation of the different beers was great and as always, we took a few cases home to Philadelphia with us. Great place to visit!

The place itself is small and off the main street. It has a very small parking area. The tours are virtual only and were all booked up because a cruise ship was in town. They offer many things to buy and you can sample the beers. I would return when there was less people so I could take the tour and really get to look at things.

It's all about the beer- of course it's good ... Like Norm from Cheers said,"I never met a beer I didn't like"... Seasonal pumpkin beer is great...

This was a great stop we watched a very short video then got to try every beer they had on tap for free. The guide explained each beer and really enjoyed her job! Good prices on growlers as well!

We stopped in on 9/25 to check additions for our hat/Tshirt collections. We've toured breweries before, many..., so another tour wasn't desired. great girls in the shop, very attentive and helpful.Found some great prints on the Tees and Sweats. Snagged a Portland Head Light hat and a pumpkinhead Tee for Halloween. A nice stop.

We stopped by the Shipyard Brewery on a day when there was no full guided tour. Instead, we watched the short informational describing the company and its products. It was a well made video, and I found it more interesting than a tour of the facility. We have visited several breweries before, so we were aware of the general process. After watching the video, we were treated to a tasting. Our "guide" was informative and added personality and humor to our tasting. During our tasting we had a few people that we ignoring her and talking amongst themselves. I found them to be disrespectful, but our guide kept calm and did not show aggravation with them. She was fantastic, and our visit was great!

They have a great store with all their wears. The tour is a little lacking, but great beer tastings afterward. The staff is all very friendly and helpful.

Visited Portland for an overnight to tour some local breweries, Shipyard's location is fantastic and very quaint inside. Lots of merchandise, great tour, and awesome tastings. Their Pumpkinhead is one of my favorite pumpkin beers, and we got to try a bourbon barrel pumpkin that was decadent! Well worth a stop if you're in the area.
