I stopped into Oak Pond Brewery out of curiosity. I was pleasantly surprised. The place was immaculately clean. I had a sampler of the different ales and decided on a Nut Brown Ale to take home. I purchased two growlers. You can bring back the empty and cleaned bottles and have them refilled at a reduced rate. If you like crafted beer and ales , make a point to stop in at Oak Pond Brewery and check it out.

Several years ago at the Old Mill Pub in Skowhegan I had a great local beer with lunch on our way to Acadia NP. After learning that we would pass near the brewery, we stopped and bought a couple of growlers. Since that day, Oak Pond Brewery has been a regular stop every summer on our trip to Acadia NP.

If you enjoy craft brews, make the trip or find OPB Beer! Every beer we tried was excellent. Return trip is planned! Outstanding beer and a great local business.

My son and I stopped in to visit the Oak Pond Brewing Co on our way from Portland to Bangor. Like many, we had heard of the brewery but had never been there. Operating out of an old chicken barn, the Chandlers have been brewing quality lagers and ales for 10 years. With limited distribution (Belfast but not Bangor), we had not had the pleasure of trying any of their beers. On the Saturday we visited, Adam Chandler was happy to give us a tour of the brewery and allow us to taste the 6 (of their 7) beers currently on tap. We found them all great, but their seasonal Storyteller Dobbelboch was my favorite. The Brewery is only open Monday - Friday 3:00 to 5:30PM and Saturday 12:30 to 5:30PM. It is located off of Rt 2 on Oak Pond Road, just east of Lake George Recreation Area. From the south (Portland or Lewiston) it is a little more difficult to find than from the north (Bangor). Its location east of Skowhegan just off of Rt 2 makes it a great place to stop for a few growlers on your way to Eaton Mtn or Sugarloaf for some skiing. With such great beers, we hope the Chandlers will start to share them more (at least offering them in Bangor). Otherwise, we are going to have to go a little out of our way more often to pick some up.
