This is a most unique store. I always find something whenever I go. My husband also has found unique items as well. SO... what's there?? First of all there is a very eclectic collection of penny candy! I can find my own treat, ALLSORTS but my husband enjoys the fresh roasted peanuts and homemade candy. You will also find the vintage candy you may not have tasted for many years. The backroom on the ground floor has a wonderful selection of cards and paper goods, unusual magnets, artisan tiles, sweatshirts, hats, and decorator file folders. Working your way back up front, there is a kitchen area which includes jams and jelly. Your cats will have their own shopping list after you bring them a fresh catnip mouse or a locally made catnip mat. Back with the candy in the front of the store are toys, toys, toys. Upstairs are Irish imported woolens, an amazing selection of children's books, fancy socks, wooden signs, scarves, and hand knit Christmas stockings. Last year, I admired some chalkboard coasters at a friend's luncheon only to discover that yes, they came from the Granite Hall Store. Being a fellow teacher, I bought a set for myself only to find myself using them in a museum exhibit I was working on this past summer. So, there is always something there and you can enjoy an ice cream cone out back too!

This is worth no more than a 30 min stop if you are in the area--the building inside and out is old and cute, the penny candy was really fun to pick out, and we also bought some souvenir items as well (they have more than just candy!).

We've been going here for years, no, decades! Walk up after having dinner on the dock (Muscungus bay lobster) for desert, giffords ice cream, or my fav..dark chocolate covered ginger candy. They've got an old fashioned penny-not anymore-candy store. The kids love it, and they've got great stuff for the adults. Good place for getting little gifts, cards, hats, etc. The owners are a great part of Round Pond, and this place has an interesting history, be sure to go upstairs.

A great place for ice cream, penny candy, toys and gifts. The staff couldn't be nicer and the building is beautiful!

A fun little store with penny candy for the kids! They also have gifts, cards, locally made items, cookware, books, t- shirts, and a busy ice cream stand!

It is a store that has been around for at least 30 years and is right off route 32 in Round Pond Maine. Has lots of items from the 50's, all kinds of niknaks and the quality of what they sell is quite good. You can buy pictures, clothing, candy, books all about Maine. It is definitely worth the stop if you are in the neighborhood. Just a nice place to visit while vacationing in Maine

All kinds of interesting stuff in here, from the candy counter with jars of old-fashioned candy like the old penny candy shops, to the kitchen wares and odds and ends, nice greeting cards, loads of fun old fashioned toys for kids, and upstairs there are some really high end hand made items like floor mats, sweaters, ceramics/pottery and such, and some nicely produced things, like hats and clothes and some more unusual kids' books.I suppose you might think it's just another chachkee shop, but really it's better than that. They make the effort to find unusual items and locally sourced products, which I appreciate.

Our family has been visiting this store for 20+ years and it still maintains its unique charm over all these years. Naturally, our children focused on the candy counter, but they also have a great selection of toys, greeting cards, clothing, and many unique gift items. Don't miss the outdoor ice cream counter!

I've been going to the Granite Hall Shop for 30+ years and have bought many pounds of candy there, countless Christmas presents, not to mention excellent ice cream cones. What I love about Granite Hall is their excellent selection of merchandise from 'penny' candy to clothing, kitchen ware, toys and more. There's nothing kitschy or tourist-trapy about this place - just good value for money and quality items. You can get personal care products, really lovely greeting cards, all manner of kitchen gadgets and, upstairs, everything from books to door mats to table ware and Irish woolens. What makes Granite Hall so special, though, is the people who own and work there. They are always friendly, patient and willing to help you find just the right item. If they're out of something (like a sherpa covered crinkle mouse cat toy, for example) they'll tell you when it'll be in or order it for you. That kind of service doesn't exist in most places these days. And the ice cream - extensive taste testing on my part has determined that the Gifford's ice cream they offer is the BEST!

Love the Round Pond country store. One of the great expereinces for kids and adults with the penny candy, delightful staff, and easy walk from the Marina. Worth the visit each and every year. One note of caution. Do not count on getting your boat fueled at Round Pond. The owner of the dock and dockside retaurant regularly refuses service the "summer jerks."So get a good tank of gas and head on up to the store. It's worth the five minute walk.
