I come back to this course every year. I love the challenging layout and the conditions are usually good. From time to time, however, the conditions aren't that great, being a mountain course and all. I'm also very surprised to see no rangers out on the course, as some people are VERY slow to play the course. Add rangers and more amenities to the small clubhouse, and this would be a 5 star review.

Probably best ever golf course I have played including many courses in Canada and United States. The views are just gorgious! The course was in a very good shapeand greens were fast, around 10.

Sunday River has a good layout, greens in good shape and beautiful mountain views. That being said, it is also over priced, the pace of play is very slow and there is no ranger on the course to speed things up. Also, when I pay that much to play golf I expect to at least have an indoor bathroom to use. Maybe the majority of men that seem to be playing up there don't mind the port-a-potties but I thought they were gross. I understand you just moved your pro shop but you really should have a proper bathroom for people to use, no excuse for that.

Played this course sat. Sept. 6 2014. I'll start by saying this is a very nice course with great views but that's about the only thing positive. Many fairways in really bad shape still, tee'd off over an hour after our scheduled tee time (which starter assured us was a normal occurrence.) Place charges $129 a head and can't afford enough carts for everyone as we waited over 45 minutes before they could clear two up for our group, also no ranger on the course to try to speed up the incredibly slow pace of play. Top that off with the fact we were told we couldn't buy booze after the 9th hole and bring it back on the course with us and this place was an overpriced joke.

Played the course on the Aug 10, 2014. Interesting track, the fairways were in bad shape. Hard to find a green area in some fairways. Greens were in good shape though, cart paths are a little crazy. Not worth $129.00 might pay $75.00 or 80.00 max. Wouldn't go back at the price they are asking.

A surprising golf course can be found off season in this beautiful ski area. They offered a discount to compensate for some problems on a few fairways, but the greens were in great shape, and the service was wonderful. Tough putting, and a real challenge at 7100 from the tips, but you can always play it forward.

So did a trip of Maine and played Sunday River, Sugarloaf and Samoset. Agree fairways were very disappointing and layout was interesting and there are some great holes. Although do not understand the huge bunker in the middle of 9th hole. Riding the cart paths was an adventure in itself. Greens are super slow... Still trying to adjust back to fast greens of NY. Cost was high for what you got and the hotels in the area were very average. Sugarloaf was much cheaper and better..

The fairways were in tough shape and at $129 this was a bit of a disappointment. It is a difficult course as you must hit over many hazards. Will plan to come back in the Fall. Spoke to the Golf Pro who said the course would be in great shape in about a month.

My wife and I had heard many positive comments about Sunday River Golf Course, making it a "must play" destination, so we scheduled a weekend overnight for our anniversary this past Saturday (6/28.) Realizing that the course just opened for the season and the fact that it had been a harsh winter, I was taken aback by the condition of the greens and especially the fairways. Couple that with the "cloud" of bugs on every hole, it was not a positive experience. We live and are members at a CC in southern Maine and play at several courses in our area and every one of them experienced damage from the off season weather, but they all are in great shape by now. The wonderful views and accomodating staff could not make up for the conditions at "one of the top three courses in Maine." Maybe we will try it again sometime in the fall.

every hole at the Sunday River golf course has spectacular views no matter which direction you look. From the magnificent clubhouse to each and every hole this golf course borders on magnificent. The layout of the course is such that every hole has a view of the surrounding mountains. The golf course itself is it an outstanding test of your ability. When played from the back tees it is all the golf course you can handle. I would suggest unless you are a low handicap player that you move forward and give yourself a chance. I caution that you exercise extreme caution going downhill on the cart paths as they in fact are extremely downhill. The scenic vistas on each hole are breath taking. The course is very difficult but extremely fair. I suggest a few extra balls in your bag may be a good idea.

We have been golfing for 14 years, in the states and some internationally. This is one of the most beautiful courses we have played, with rolling hills, elevation changes , water, mountains, and sheer beauty. But, I was offended when the ranger accosted me for driving off the cart path. They have no handicap flags nor do the make any allowances for disabled folks. They should advertise NO HANDICAPPED PERMITTED! Lovely course for the able bodied.

Very scenic and in great shape. Greens were running very true. A bit on the slow side, but excellent condition. Can't say enough about the beautify scenery with mountains in the background. A must play course!

This course is right at Sunday River in the mountains and is so beautiful with gorgeous views all around. While a challenging course it is still very playable. Course was in perfect shape. Only issue we had was with the golf cart trying to get up a hill on the cart path between the first and second hole. Gentleman who checked us in told us to be careful due to the rain that morning because the tires may slip. Well, slip they did and cart kept going backwards. Ended up on very edge of steep ravine. It took all the power and might my husband had to push the cart from behind while I gunned the accelerator. We were quite concerned that the cart was gonna fall into the ravine and take my husband with it. They really should put a guard rail in at that spot. It was pretty scary.

Very disappointed in conditions at Sunday River. All fairways have rotted grass and mud and water. Greens are bumpy and slow. Many cart path only holes. Beautiful scenery. Take a hike and play golf somewhere else.ClaireRhode Island

The vistas were awesome, the course wet from heavy rains but in great shape, cart paths only so a lot of exercise. Truly an exciting day of golf and I enjoyed the outing but not my score.
