It's worth visiting this lovely park if you want a short hike or walk in the woods. Great for families.

The peak of Bradbury Mountain is an easy uphill trek, but the team sport fields at the base of the shallow mountain are very noisy and crowded.

Easy and pleasant walk up the hill (not really a mountain) to a few wonderful viewing sites from which you can see the whole area. Easy for anyone to walk up, good picnic area. Overall, an excellent State park.

I have been here in the spring, summer and fall, and I have to recommend this for couples, families with or without kids; this is such a great hiking treasure in this area.

Our family heads to Bradbury Mountain State Park twice a year...always in the fall. It can get crowded on weekends, especially if the weather is "autumn gorgeous ". There is a fee to enter, but it is well worth it and the fees help to maintain this beautiful natural resource in Maine. There are two trails up to the summit...One a bit easier to navigate than the other. The easier trail works well for everyone...from the older hiker to a small child...our granddaughter has done this trail since she was 4. This trail is about one mile of hiking. The summit is a series of flat large rocks looking out from several vantage points. Breathtaking views and just the perfect spot for photos of the scenery as well as amazing fall family photos. We always offer to take someone's family photo...in return for ours. Lots of gorgeous babies and beautiful dogs abound...A great day of healthy exercise and stunning views. We always take the shorter route down the mountain, but I can warn you that there are some steep inclines and several of these are on what can be slippery rock formations. A short drive from Portland and you can be transported to a magical spot in Maine...A fortunate natural resource...A perfect outing for families with children...seniors...young couples...teens...perfect outdoor exercise for everyone and great for dogs as well.

The only downside of this park was the bad weather. The trails were picturesque. Ut slippery with rain and fallen leaves. Would love to spend more time on the trails as there were many of varying difficulty. Need to go back on a sunny fall day and hike to the top.

This was our summer to camp. We had some previous experiences at both public and private campgrounds that proved somewhat disappointing. However, Bradbury Mountain State Park did not disappoint. As a campground, it had all the basics down in high fashion. It was clean. The personnel there were present but not omnipresent. The bathrooms were immaculate. Shower areas were a model for how campgrounds should handle ablutions. The dish wash area was a great idea and clean too. The sites were apart enough from each other so you had a sense of privacy. They also sold fire wood for sale. As a result the woods wasn't picked dry. In addition to standard camping sites, they had some primitive camp sites (we'll hit these next season) and some sites were designated for larger tents and campers.The mountain biking was an absolute treat. It is a must do. It is maintained and has plenty of exciting twists and turns.The hike up the mountain was easy and gave great views.Freeport is only a few miles away. So you can go out to eat, stroll the streets, window shop, visit world renown LL Bean or simple people watch.The campers were all friendly and as was the staff.It is open all year and from what the staff told us it is great for winter camping too.

We chose to stay at Bradbury Mountain State Park because we had read about the mountain bike trails there. We stayed for 9 days and really enjoyed the fact that we could ride from our camp site. The trails were enjoyable, some fairly technical single track. Being from Vermont where we typically have a lot of elevation change I enjoyed the fast, flatter, type single track at the park. Some of the trails are hiking only and offer a short hike to the small summit which made for a great hike for the 6 and 7 year old children who visited us while there. The campground was your typical state park. The grounds were clean and very quiet. Even though it is fairly close to a road there is little traffic at night so not much road noise. We also kayak and the campground is only about 10 minutes from several spots to put in on the coast. You're also only 10 minutes from Freeport so there are plenty of dinning (and shopping if you're so inclined) options close by.

Climb the "mountain"; easy climb with a great spot to view the area. Safe for kids and dogs as well.

On a warm September afternoon we took the quick .2m hike up the "mountain" to the summit and the view of the changing leaves was well worth it. We took the "long" 1m walk back through the forest. All in all a delightful afternoon walk.

This state park was very close to our campground so we eagerly began hiking up to the summit. It was rigorous, but we expected it. We then took the Boundary Trail and tried to loop back to the parking area, but got completely lost. The map and trail signs were a little confusing. By the time we found the switchback trail, we had climbed up and down so many times that my knees were stinging. With so many reviews saying how easy the hiking was I felt completely lame. Beautiful park, but man, oh, man they need better trail signs.

After a day with the crowds of Freeport the decision to venture off the beaten path to Bradbury Mountain State Park was a wise one. We were greeted at the gate by probably one of the nicest rangers I have ever met, paid our $10.00 fee and started our morning of exploring. There is plenty of parking, the trails very, very easy to follow and the view at the summit magnificent! There are picnic tables, a campground, play ground and lots of room to explore. The park is open to hikers, bikers, horseback riders, snowmobilers, skiers and snow shoeing. A definite return trip is planned!

This was unexpectedly nice walk they the woods. It's certainly NOT a mountain at 480' but the gently rolling hike up the hill was very pretty and offered 3 open vistas. Small park with lots of extremely well marked trails. I'd certainly go back to do some x-country trail running in the future. It's a little noisy near the road from traffic, but once you turn a bend it gets quieter. Nice place to hang out for a couple hours!

We brought a picnic lunch and hiked an easy trail to the top. Make sure to see all views. Hike was easy for senior as well as 6 yr old. After our hike we ate our picnic lunch at the large selection of tables near parking and playground. Fun afternoon break from Freeport shopping.

If you get there when the office is closed, grab an envelope at the gate, pick out an open spot, then fill out the envelope with the fee ($20.52 a night for nonresident) and put it back in the tube at the gate. Warm, clean, big showers. Beautiful and quiet! No flushing toilets, but they were well maintained & clean.
