This was great! Hardly anyone was here. The water spraying up was unbelievable and sent our 2 teenage nieces into giggles and shrieks of laughter. It was the most fun for free. It was 20 degrees cooler here than when we started out so we were glad we had our hoodies in the back of the car.

This is the quiet side of Bar Harbor. A good place to go and relax with a book and enjoy the sunshine.

Climbed to the top of the point for views of Bar Harbor and the bay between. Great ocean view too. Lots of interesting plants along the way.

Schoodic Point is simply stunning. Worth the drive from Mt Desert or from Ellsworth to see all the beauty without large crowds.

We visited in late October and decided to make the drive from Bar Harbor to Schoodic Point bc we had heard it was less crowded. We thoroughly enjoyed it! It almost felt like we had the place to ourselves. In addition to spending time on the rocky shore, we hiked one of the trails.

I liked the rocks and the trail is not that hard. It gives you a nice view of the ocean and on a clear day sunset is great

One of the best places in Acadia to see the sunset, easy drive and good parking, excellent for families and friends.

We were directed here as a less busy part of Acadia NP and found a very pleasant drive with multiple stops for scenic photos. Great little side trip.

Some of my best photos are from this area. Schoodic Peninula is a lesser traveled part of Acadia National Park. Equally as beautiful. This point had lots of crashing waves and lots of birds to take photos of.

There is nothing to dislike. View is breathtaking. It is a must place to take your visitors as the views are just beautiful.

This is the quieter side of Acadia, but with the same beautiful coastal views. A six mile loop with plenty of places to pull off and take pics or hike about.

If you like the natural beauty of Acadia, but with a smaller crowd (or no crowd at all), head to Schoodic Point and walk out on the rocks that gently slope towards the ocean. It was so quiet and beautiful, I never wanted to leave!

We visited Acadia NP and MDI in late September and found it all beautiful, but the hour drive to Schoodic Point was well worth it for the most unique and raw beauty we experienced. The lack of people was a joy, and the crashing waves hitting the rocks were mesmerizing. Perhaps it isn't always such a "show" but the day and time we were there it was one incredible wave after another spraying water high into the air. Once in the park, along the drive to and from the point there were several areas get out and sit on the rocks to enjoy some solitude and beauty. Definitely a part of the park to see.

Climb on the rocks. Watch the ocean spray. Be careful not to go to close to the edge -- it can be slippery and occasionally someone falls into the ocean which is 55 degrees.

Had I not spent 5 spectacular days in Acadia NP on MDI, I would have rated Schoodic Point a 4. At Acadia NP I heard the waves crash and saw beautiful foliage as I hiked, biked trail after trail and my dog ran leash free around long pond. I suppose it is all relative to your previous experiences and what you're looking for. The positives: beautiful ragged coast line, gorgeous views of the ocean and Acadia MDI. The coast is super accessible to the parking lot, and as you drive around the loop you can pull off and see other various parts of the island, all beautiful, but in comparison to Acadia just wasn't as stunning to me.When we were there, it was not as "quiet" as described. I saw more people there than on any trail I hiked or biked in Acadia. In fair balance, I didn't hike Schoodic Point trails and I have heard wonderful things about their 3 (I think) trails that loop together. The town around it was basically shut down as we were there at the end of September. My friend and I left both feeling like we would have rather spent that 1/2 day exploring Acadia vs exploring Schoodic Point. You can't go wrong at either area of these Acadia parks, yet when I return again, I won't take time to visit Schoodic Point.
