Really interesting outline of the architect, how he started this work in Buffalo, and integration of house and living, the conservatory (rebuilt) his furniture, lights, and approach to personal spaces. Lovely lights, Japanese prints, hidden bookcases, and long passage outside. And the new entry Greatbatch Pavilion worth seeing also, with clear lines and glass. Visiting in March with ice and snow, and a 2 week old baby, the guide gave the information to us inside, and we were the only ones on the tour!!! Absolutely marvellous. Well worth a visit in winter to have the luxury of fewer people on the tour!!

My husband has always been a fan of this architect so when we went on a shopping babymoon I booked us in. It was an interesting tour with lots of history. The pieces I didn't really know was that part of the tour takes you outside, covered, but still outside. And there is no where to sit anywhere along the tour because all the furniture is unique and protected. Even though we booked the short tour it was still kinda long for a pregnant me with long standing intervals listening to the history. But if you are in Buffalo for whatever, I'd recommend doing this at least once.

The Martin House Complex is a must-see! It's a little pricey, so I wouldn't bring the whole family- but it was a perfect afternoon date on our way to Niagara Falls. We went in February 2015, and part of the house is still under renovation. I can't wait to come back next year and be able to see more of the house. The Martin family had an interesting story and the house itself has a cool "no walls" concept. The visitor center is to the left of the actual house. This is where you will begin your tour with a short video.

If you are a FLW fan, you will know that this is not to be missed. An amazing restoration of buildings and gardens, excellently trained docents. The house is located in a lovely urban residential neighborhood only a few blocks from one of Buffalo's Olmsted parks.

I've always enjoyed just looking at Frank Lloyd Wright's work. The houses as well as the business buildings are just so simple but complex at the same time, if that makes sense. It appears that he definitely knows how to make good use of the space he has and still make it interesting to look at. In other words it does not look too busy. All in all I'd love to have one of his houses built for me.

An amazing work of architecture. I went with a group of friends, and really didn't know what to expect. I didn't realize that he was so meticulous about his design, including the placement of the furniture. It's definitely worth a visit, and our tour guide was full of information. It's been wonderful to see this work of art be restored over the years.

The last time I was at the Darwin Martin House they had just started renovating the main house. I had the opportunity to experience a fabulous guided tour there last week and was blown away by the renovations and additions. So beautiful and true to Frank Lloyd Wright's original vision. This should be a definite stop for locals as well as tourists.

The Darwin Martin house beckons a visit to a gilded age when self made men created enormous wealth making Buffalo NY one of the wealthiest cities on the country. The house itself, a Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece, looks almost like it was put there by aliens sitting in the luxurious but quaint Parkside neighborhood. It's modern lines would lead you to believe it was built in modern times, not the very early days of the 20th century. Each room is a detailed example of the genius of one the preeminent architects in American history. The portico is not to be missed. If you are in Buffalo and miss this treasure, you will have missed perhaps one of the best example of FLWs work.

Although FLW used and abused the owners patronage and $$$...the home (and 2 other bldgs. on site are fine examples of his work....and docent tours are really quite good.

We are glad your family prevailed, that you visited the Martin House and enjoyed your experience. Thanks for sharing your encounter with Wright’s architecture.

The tour is interesting but be warned it does take up quite a bit of time. Beautifully restored, a must for architecture fans

This house has been through the ringer in terms of its history. Frank Lloyd the person who build the home what very meticulous about his house designs, every bit of the home was designed by him, from the windows to the chairs.this was the way it was with all for his builds. Every part of this home was thought out throughly for the darwins the family in which the house was build for. The home had been abandoned and used as a party house until a couple of people took the home and rebuild it to the design that was originally there. The house if beautiful and is open to tours. Please take the time to tour is when you get a chance.

The home and tour were outstanding. Our guide was wonderful and I've heard others say that the guides were well trained. Outstanding would hit the mark. I learned so much about FLW and his life's work. Our tour lasted about 1 1/2 hours and it flew by. Neat gift shop and gardens around the home. My only complaint is that it was so hard to locate. Make sure you have good directions, because there are no signs on the highway. This visit made me want to visit the summer home in Wisconsin. A bit pricey for the tour, but worth it.

There are two homes, a boathouse and replica of his design for a gas station. If architecture or Wright interests you Buffalo should be on your travel plans.

Visiting the newly renovated Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin D. Martin House is like taking a step into the past and the future. The beautifully restored home and grounds sit amongst many homes that predates the Martin House. Its interesting to imagine the neighborhood when the house was built. The Mori designed visitor's center fits on the complex so beautifully and is a glimpse into the architectural future. This is a must visit site on a trip to Buffalo!
