Very nice place. Driving to each level of the mtn is better because its a REALLY LONG hike if you want to walk and it's all a hill. The highest point is beautiful with benches for picnics and more!! Great place to visit if you need a 1-2 hour day trip!! :)

I am from the region and have been an avid hiker for my entire life. Prospect is so close to home and doesn't take all day to hike the mountain. I certainly would spend the whole day looking over the beautiful scenery though! Definitely something I will continue to do yearly!

Beautiful, historic and easy to get to. Never went there much as a kid but as I got into hiking and the town history it became a yearly stop. It has something special in different seasons. The smell of the new flowers and trees in the Spring. The cool mountain breezes in the Summer and the beautiful colors in the Fall. Bring a sandwich and soda, and maybe a pair of binoculars! If you are hiking bring water!

We passed by Lake George during a summer road trip from Montreal to southern New Jersey. We were only there one afternoon, but still had time to hike Prospect Mountain, a relatively short hike of about 1h.The path is not what we expected: it is part of an old incline railway, not the best path for a nature hike. However, the view at the top was spectacular, and definitely worth it. If you're in Lake George, it is a must see!

Every year we end our vacation with a family picnic on the Mountain. You just can not find better views of the lake anywhere.

We took the scenic drive to the top of the mountain on Columbus weekend along with a lunch cruise on Lake George aboard the Lac du Saint Sacrement. What a beautiful day, we felt so lucky!! The views are incredibly picturesque, take tons of photos and take time at every turn out to park and walk around. Prospect mountain is worth the time to enjoy on a trip to Lake George!

We drove up the mt stopping at many lookout points. Loved the view. The foliage was beautiful! NOTE: If you have a park access card, it's free. Also, if you have a handicap placard, you can drive your car to the summit instead of transferring to a van. You transfer very close to the summit and it seemed the best views were at the lookout points. The foliage trip consisted of my husband, sister and me---no category for that below!

The hike looked very strenuous, and so we opted to pay the $10 for the car to drive up the mountain. Well worth it. There were several beautiful visitas. The summit was not necessarily the best viewpoint. Took gorgeous photos. Visibility was awesome the day we went and we could see past Albany!

Prospect Mountain is the perfect place for leaf peepers and anyone looking to enjoy a majestic view of the Lake George area. With three look-out points and free shuttle service from the last parking area to the summit, it's well worth the $10/car for admission to the park. Picnicking, hiking, or enjoying a leisurely drive through the winding mountain roads, Prospect Mountain has something for all ages to enjoy!

Amazing view of Lake George. Spectacular views of fall colors. Easy to reach as you can drive down with three view points on the way to top of the mountain. Free shuttle service from the parking to take you to the top of the mountain in case you do not wish to walk.

Well worth the trip! My husband and I took such incredible pictures of the foliage. I would highly recommend stopping for an hour or two.

It costs ten dollars to get in but it's worth the price.The drive up to the top at a pleasant 35 mph is enjoyable in itself.There are several overlooks where you can pull in and park on the way up (or down).The main parking lot at the top has a restroom should you need it and from the lot you can walk up or take the state provided free shuttle to the very top.When we got there the shuttle had just finished its last run so we didn't ride.We didn't walk either as it's very steep.However, there is a very impressive view from the main lot and from a couple of the overlooks.You get a very good view of the southern end of the lake and Lake George Village.There weren't a lot of people around in general but I suspect that in the summer the mountain can get very busy.But, it's worth it any time of the year the mountain is open.They close the mountain sometime in October depending on the weather and open sometime in late May or early June.
