We picked this snow hike because it was closest to Lake Placid. It was just enough to hike around without our 2 kids (7 & 6) complaining they were tired. We saw it after a snow fall and it was just breath taking. We cant wait to come back and see it in the summer months. It was an easy walk for all (even with all of our layers)

family went to whiteface so i was alone for the day. i decided to go snow shoeing and since i was alone my hotel said to go to the gorge. first thing i have to say is everyone was so friendly. i felt so comfortable even though i was alone. the gorge is pretty but i am afraid of heights. i pressed on and got some nice pictures with my phone. the place is well maintained and i didnt mind the fee. i could gave snowshoed for nothing at the state trail near my hotel but its not patrolled and if something happened im on my own. snoeshoeing was good. a few nice steep climbs which got the heart pumping. i did the mile long trail twice. there is free hot chocolate inside and i decided to stay for lunch. i had a chicken caesar wrap and it was ok. i would come here again and bring my family too.

I have been to High Falls Gorge several times and enjoyed it each time. I was disappointed to see some of the reviews discussing the pricing, which is what is prompting me to write this review. Here is some little known information. The Gorge, a privately owned venue, had been devastated by two major floods in 2011. The second flood almost closed the facility permanently. The cost of rebuilding was afforded through extensive loans from FEMA, in order to keep the attraction open to the public. In addition to this, the owner also received volunteer work from the supportive local community to clear debris and to get the facility reopened. This is also a business that provides jobs above minimum wage, which is helpful for the local economy. How do I know this? It's simple, I took the time to learn. Take the time to learn about each attraction you visit. Ask questions, learn about the area, the people, the history and make it worth your while, but please don't complain about a reasonable fee in a tourist area. If you check the fees for other similar attractions they are significantly higher in price. During my trips through the Gorge I've enjoyed talking to the staff, reading the signs that provide the geological history of the falls and formation of the surrounding area. The staff was extremely knowledgeable about the gorge itself and I've even had the pleasure of a tour through the gorge. So I again state, take the time to learn about the attraction you're visiting.

Nice walk in the woods along the river and cool waterfalls. Kids received a nice prize for correct answers to their game. They loved that! Nice store with food at the end - however it had overpriced souvenirs. If not all guests are hiking, it nice to sit by the fire while waiting for your group to finish.

It cost our group of 3 $14 EACH to get in. The views of the falls were okay, but not great. There is no reason to pay for this when there are many free trails to falls in the area, not to mention that you could see these falls from the road. I would never do it again. Waste of money.

We went to High Falls Gorge during an off time: there wasn't enough snow to go snowshoeing, but it wasn't warm enough for all the hiking trails to be open. The only trail we could walk was the regular waterfall trail, which was beautiful but took us less than an hour to complete and only that long because we stopped to take pictures everywhere. They do give you each a set of YakTrax for your shoes, to make walking on the icy trails safe and easy and a cup of coffee or tea upon your return from the hike- very nice touches. Unfortunately, the cafe was under renovations when we were there, but once it opens looks like it will be a great spot to grab a bite to eat and a glass of wine/beer. Surprisingly, their gift shop was one of the best in the area, with a nice variety of Adirondack items at prices more reasonable than at the shops in Lake Placid.

It requires some walking, but it is a wonderful view of the the Gorge. The water looks like buttermilk pouring over the rocks with all the spashing and mist. You are so close you feel the water splashing.

While the scenery is beautiful and the falls are wonderful, the cover price is quite expensive for approximately 1-hour to tour the place. There is an optional picnic area and dependent on your time, you can get a stamp to come back the next day.Attractions should include a family price in order to attract more visitors

It is a very scenic place with some nice bush walks and waterfalls. But I found the waterfalls largely underwhelming for some reason. They were more like skinny rapids the didn't have the real presence and power that falls such Niagara have. Someone else paid for my ticket so I can't comment on cost. But if you like nature then you will enjoy it, just don't except too much wow factor.

The views were amazing, however, after we finished the trail, we were like- "Is that all"? The gift shop sells the absolute best incense! $1.75 for 5 is expensive, but worth it. And my daughter loved the rocks we brought back for her.

Having quite a long drive to our destination in front of us we decided on a leg-stretch here. And how nice it was. The falls were pretty spectacular but I would have loved to have seen them in "full spate" in the spring. We also opted to walk the 1-mile trail which was not over strenuous but a good bit of exercise and we had the bonus of seeing a chipmunk close up munching on a nut. We also ate in the cafeteria which was good value for money although the menu was not particularly wide. All in all a good couple of hours.

The gorge was nice. I wish the observation areas were a bit larger. The adults seemed to want to trample the younger kids trying to look or read the signs for the Junior Ranger quiz the park offers. The additional nature trail was a good little workout. It was nice to go "off the beaten path" and yet be close enough to not have to take lots of gear. We will visit again!

The price of admission is absolutely worth it. Don't even THINK of going without your camera--and a strap to hang on to the camera!!

It was a nice place, clean and well kept. The trails were well laid out. I guess I was expecting more of a walk along lake for views. It would be a great place to go with a packed lunch to enjoy along the river. Wasn't bad, but $11 per adult was a bit steep.

If you're looking for a nice short hike then this is the hike for you. It's well marked has great views, great falls and easy trail. The place is open in the winter where you can use snowshoes for walking. Not sure if they charge for them but I assume the walk would be great if you love snowshoeing. The trail has great scenic glass floor sections to see the falls below you- pretty cool. Information signs are posted to bring attention to the natural wonders around you. This attraction helps you relax and unwind from your busy schedule. Enjoy, we did.
