saranac inn golf & country club

I have traveled to the North Country for many years and my destination for golf is the Saranac Inn. The course is well maintained and deceptively challenging offering something for everybody. When it comes to views and speed of play it is unmatched. Don't play here if loons interrupting your back swing is a problem.Staff is friendly and the lessons are good.

I have been going to Saranac Inn for over 15 years and this was the first time the greens ever played like that. Which takes away it's from its beauty. But if you have a group of friends who like to hack up a nice course, it's a great place. Usually, when you get there Friday, your clubs and stuff stay on the cart, because you have it for all the following rounds included in the package you purchased. All the rooms are dated back to 1950s. But clean enough for our standards.

The torn seat of the golf cart and the paper clip on the key of the cart, should have tipped us off. We are visitors to the area and were looking for a scenic, quality course. This course is nothing as described on their website. The condition of the course was very poor and there was no exceptional scenery whatsoever. Fairways were patchy. The bunkers were filled with dirt - not sand - and contained sizeable stones. Some of the cart paths were hazardous. The course layout was fine. The Mon-Fri fee of $75 (incl cart) is ludicrous for the course condition. We were so disappointed to have spent 4 precious hours of our vacation here.

Based on Golf Digest ratings of 4 and 1/2 stars I expected better, and so was disappointed. A 1902 course, but hardly in the same category as other Eastern woodland courses by MacKensie, Tillinghast, MacDStaff was friendly, price was reasonable.

Love playing this golf course. It is not a hard course but it is challenging due to the fact that you are very rarely flat when you shoot anywhere but the Tbox. The ball is either above your feet or below. The rooms need some work. I do not believe that the rooms have ever been upgraded. The rooms are not that great for a man's get away but for women, I believe it is below grade.

played here on thursday the 6/28 and was shocked at the price but was there and decided to play got to the first hole and found it was aerated my partners thought wow why are they doing this found the rest of the greens were as well should have known by the empty parking lot this course is way over priced went to raybrook golf course and found their greens should be at the saranac inn you certainly dont get what you pay for at the inn no beer cart bar empty deli not open terrible

Saranac Inn has the best fairways in the Adirondacks, not to mention excellent greens. The staff are very helpful. It is a treat not to miss if you are in the north country...well worth your time.

I just came back from a weekend stay at the Saranac Inn and Golf Club, and I was very pleased. This is one of those no nonsense facilities, the club house is just a house, and the motel is more cabin than hotel. It is very rustic, not sure my wife would have approved, but for 2 male golfers it was just fine. We were welcomed warmly and were quickly put at ease, The service was great and friendly. They let the golf course hold centre stage and it deserves it. A very fine course with interesting holes that can challange you but not beat you up. If you want to stay at a "resort" go to Lake Placid, if you want some great golf and a place to sleep and drink a pop or two then the Saranac Inn and Golf Club is the place to go.
