The Poughkeepsie train station is historical. It may not be the cleanest but it is so very orderly! Vending machines everywhere and friendly folks at the ticket station too!

The train station was closed when we were there. So we only saw it from the outside. It was interesting to look around and think of the people arriving here by train.

If you saw this movie, you saw this train station. It is historical in architecture and an amazing building. If traveling, be sure to purchase your tickets before boarding the train to save some money. The restrooms in the train station are well maintained and better than on the train so plan ahead!

The signs on Rt 9 invited us to turn off and visit the "historic train station." What you see is a rather ordinary brick train station with peeling paint and closed except summer holidays and weekend days 12-5. Additional times and events can be found on their website. Looking inside the windows one sees a mannequin behind the period style ticket window, some aged benches and an empty lobby. The windows are littered in part with out of date event fliers and the grounds offer nothing more then grass and gravel. One plus for this site is the Hudson River view from behind the chain-link, barb wire fencing.

Recommend stopping by the old Railroad Museum on a Saturday or Sunday. The station has been restored and maintain by Hudson Valley Railroad Society.Great views of the Hudson River. Plenty of parking and you can have your lunch in the old railroad siding pavilion ,

I have seen this beautiful old building go through restoration. It is beautiful inside. The main waiting room has high ceilings, chandeliers, and old wooden benches. It reminds you of how important railroad stations used to be.

I enjoyed visiting this little train station used by FDR (mostly while Governor). Got several good pics inside and around the station outside. There are five rooms and a good bit of memorabilia. There was someone inside to provide information, show you around, and answer questions. There was no fee, but a donation can be left.

Train aficionados and people interested in history will enjoy this gem. Others will simply love it for its scenic location and simplicity of days gone by. If you have time, go see it. The tours have a very limited schedule so check ahead! In the summer 2013, it's open weekends and holidays only-- Noon to 5 pm.

I assume this was the station FDR used so it is interesting, but really little to see. It is on the hudso so there is a pretty view.

Because we were there just after the season ended, the train station was not open. We actually found it by accident when we were just driving around. We stopped and took a few photos because it was quaint and right on the backs of the Hudson, so it was just all very pretty. Also, it's just a few hundred yards from the Vanderbilt's Carriage House which is beautiful and worth seeing.

The Hyde Park Train Station is a little known treasure which sits down by the Hudson River in Hyde Park, NY. A small station was built on this site in 1851 and it was this station through which President Lincoln's funeral train passed in 1865. That station was torn out and the present building constructed in 1914 at about the same time that Grand Central Station was being completed in Manhattan and the Hudson River Railroad was connecting New York City to Albany. President Franklin Roosevelt's funeral train returned his body to Hyde Park at this station in 1945. Today the train station is a museum which is open Monday nights 5:00-9:00 pm. In the summer the hours are weekends 12:00 - 5:00 pm. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and there are model trains running through finely detailed landscapes inside. If you are a train enthusiast - or a history buff - or just love something a little different - this place is a real treat.
