This little pearl is a must see if you are in the area. You wont be disappointed. It is very well maintained and fun as well.

Small museum, but interactive, adjacent to the Cradle of Aviation Museum. Good for young kids who get to climb on an old-fashion fire truck, as well as learn from the exhibits. I'd rate it higher, but it's a small exhibit. Certainly worth the few extra dollars to add on to the visit to Cradle of Aviation Museum.

Have been on class trips here and there are vintage, as well as modern fire trucks to see, climb on to, and pretend to drive. There are firefighter's uniforms to try on, a pretend bedroom whose window you can shimmy out of onto a ladder, lots of educational info to read, and a staff that seems to really love and know their material.

A fantastic showcase of historic firetrucks. One can only imagine living in a time when the courageous firefighters fought fires with the equipment displayed at the museum.

This Museum is really well thought out. As with all Museums, the docents and volunteers make it what it is, without them it would be lacking. Schools do visit but every child (and adult) that comes through gets the opportunity to learn about fire safety. They get to see the fire department trucks and equipment up close. There are interactive exhibits such as a (real) house with fire violations. The kids get the chance to see what is safe and what is not. Very nice visit.

Great for kids and adults. Especially relevant after 911. Good for children of all ages. Even jaded teenagers find it interesting.

a small but interesting museum, with a nice collection of vintage fire engines. there is also a collection of toy fire trucks and other fire-fighter related objects. the little ones will enjoy it because they can dress up as a real fire-fighter, and sit in some of the engines. there is an exhibit of fire safety that will be interesting to grade school children. there is also a very touching 9/11 memorial for the long island fire-fighters who lost their lives that day. your visit will probably be under an hour, unless you can't get the kids off the fire trucks!

The Firefighter's Museum and Education Center is just a small collection of firefighting equipment located within the Cradle of Avation building. There is a separate entrance fee.

This is a small place inside th same building as the Cradle of Aviation Museum. It has all kinds of apparatus and equipment with discriptions nearby all.there are some fun hands on things for the kids to do. It's worth a visit but the experience can be different by the enthusiasm of the guy/gal watching over the place. This is a very small and quiet place. At least when I was there.

This museumis part of the Cradle of Aviation Museum. Here is fire fighting equipment from the 1830s up to the early 1950s.Part of the collection includes:1832 Hand Pumper1893 Hook & Ladder horse drawn vehicle.1903 Silsby Syeam Fire Pumper.1936 Dodge Brothers Truck.1952 Ward LaFrance Flood Light Truck.I would say the total vehicle collection would be at least 12 vehicles, through the decades. Along with different fire extinguishers, different era ladders, hand fighting equipment and clothing. Most vehicles are behind barriers, but close enough for photography. Plenty of light for photos. A 1934 Mark Pumper has a staircase, with railing, so a visitor is able get a full view.During my visit, I saw only a woman and man, no large crowds. A visit will only take about 45 minutes, longer if photographing.Fall-Spring Hours-Tuesday-Sunday- 10:00-5:00 PM.Summer Hours-Monday-Sunday-10:00-5:00 PM.There is a cafeteria called the Red Planet Cafe. Prices are a bit high, however the food is tasty. Also a number if vending machines. If using GPS, use 399 Charles Lingbergh Blvd.. Thius museum would appeal mostly to a fireperson. I visited because this museum just unexpected.Jack L., Syracuse, New York.
