The Root Glen is a wonderful place to take a walk and get your nature fix. The formal gardens are really nice, so is the amazing peony garden, and the paths and bridges that wind throughout the ravine. My favorite part of the Glen is the expansive woods -- you can walk for an hour or more on less traveled paths, and see deer, hawks, song birds, and all kinds of wild flowers in the spring. Last time I was there the woods were full of red and white trillium, just breath taking! If you are in Clinton you must take a stroll here!! Stop in the gazebo to see photos of what is blooming. (You can use the bathrooms in nearby buildings, or the student center which is quite close.)

Root Glen is a beautiful walk through woods and gardens on a summer day. Wonderful place on the grounds of Hamilton College, through glens, rock bed streams, gardens. A treasure.

Root Glen is an extensive arboretum located on the property of Hamilton College, in Clinton, New York. Several paths lead through diverse habitats, each having unique trees, bushes, and flowers from different parts of the country and world. Streams cut through red-colored bedrock. The place is ideal for a 2 hour visit, in which a person can stroll (most of it is very accessible), contemplate, write, or just relax.
