Woodland Valley is my favorite of mine. Located on a beautiful, albiet cold, stream the majority of the sites are well separated and have great views. The restroom and shower facilities have been surprising clean every time that I've camped there. Campground host have been friendly, informative and sell firewood at a very good price.

Review of Woodland Valley public campground in New York State. Very lovely secluded campground between the mountains with a stream running through camp. Very secluded. NO WIFI here! No hookups either. Many campsites back up to stream. RV length to 30 feet. 5 miles back winding road to the campground off the main road route 28. Mostly tents but some trailer sites. Paved road to sites. Very clean and modern hot showers. Best we've seen on our camping trip yet . dump station, pay phone, picnic area, and recycling center. close to hiking trails. trail leads to Slide Mountain east branch of Never sink and foot trail to Wittenberg Cornell-Slide Mountain. only negative I see are sites 6 and 8 have of view of the house across a stream and some sites not so private. other than that it seems perfect. out of state folks charged 52 dollars for 2 nights . campground host very nice. oh don't show up after 9pm you won't be allowed to setup. Also make reservations for weekends well in advance totally booked last open weekend of the year october 12th. We camped at Woodland valley. Beautiful campground, great place to go if you are hiking Wittenburg or Slide mountain trails. Was somewhat busy when we were there, but is in a lovely setting next to a river

This was my first time camping, so I really have nothing to compare this to, however, I don't know if this is a place I want to come back to. If you're coming with one or two other people and just want to enjoy nature and go camping, this is the place. If you're coming with a group of friends who are looking to have an awesome time, find another place. There were a total of 11 of us and while we did have an awesome time, there are just so many rules. Our group came all at different times and none of us knew that you couldn't come in after 9PM and you couldn't set up your tent either. We arrived at 1AM and were told that they were being nice and letting us in, but we couldn't set up our tent. Why? No idea... Of course, we set it up because we came to camp and the 4 of us couldn't fit in the car to sleep. The next day, we go hiking and come back to a note saying that we couldn't have more than 2 tents per campsite, even though we purchased 3 sites and all stayed in one. Why? No idea... The last straw came when we were grilling that night and just all hanging out and were told to be quiet as it was quiet time...we're a group of 11, it's bound to get loud and seriously, we're in the woods! This place has a ton of rules and they will give you a hard time. All the campsites are very close to each other. The bathrooms/showers were surprisingly clean, but with all the restrictions, we definitely didn't have as much fun as we could have. I would come back here if it was just a small group of 4, but other then that, I'll pass.

This was our second year vacationing in the Catskills in the Phoenicia area. We were looking for a nice place for walking our two dogs. We find this park to be a gem. Beautiful scenery. Well maintained. We have enjoyed talking with the campers as we walk along the trails. Very relaxing.

I started camping at Woodland Valley State Park before they had showers available! We used to bath in the stream. The scenery was worth "roughing it". I used to hike with my friends for hours at a time. I couldn't get enough of the place. We returned for years. Later in life I'd bring my husband who also fell in love with the park. We became avid campers. After 35 years of marriage and two grown kids, we traded our sleeping bags in for B&B's. I would highly recommend the area to anyone. Absolutely gorgeous. My favorite time of the year, the fall. The colors are magnificent. I started visiting the park as a single young woman, later with my husband, then with my husband and children. Someday we hope to bring our granddaughter there.
