Green Chimneys is a hidden gem in the hills of Brewster , NY . This is a teaching facility that has wonderful critters which will make any age smile . If you are around in early June -- their annual Birds of Prey Day is not to be missed . Falconers and other educational ( and craft and food ) vendors gather for dramatic demonstrations and " up close and personal" encounters with these magnificent birds . A bit hard to find - so have either a GPS or mapquest with you -- but well worth it !

The animals may be the ‘sideline’ of Green Chimneys, but they certainly qualify as a main attraction. Our little ones love the bunnies, fluffy chickens and ducks. And even the teens can’t help but adore the ponies, pigs and emus. Personally I think the birds of prey are magnificent, especially the huge Andean Condor, that hops down to take a closer look at you!

This is a great school/rehab center that is a must for you to stop at. They rehabilitate animals from all over and have a verity to see. This is a school for children that need extra assistance and they do a really great job. There are many activities that the children participate in and learning is great. Make sure that you wear your hiking shoes and tour the farm. they have both animals and a working farm. The place continues to change and there are always new animals.

Pick an event day for your visit, i.e., Little Folk Days, Birds of Prey Day. The Farm is beautiful, natural and home to many wonderful animals. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and always considerate of children (children and parents should also be considerate of the animals).

This is the greatest Farm/School/Rehab in the entire country and a must see if in the area. Bring you most comfortable shoes and walk the grounds to see the most fabulous animals that you can not even see in most zoos. The school founder (DR. ROSS) Has put together a great team . I enjoy going back to see all the new arrivals.

Green Chimneys is an amazing operation. To be quite honest I don’t really understand everything they do/have there. What I do know is that they allow members of the public to come in on weekends and see the animals. They have miniature horses, camels, pigs, sheep, llamas, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, emus (!) and an extensive collection of wild birds that are have been rescued from injury - our fave is the Andean Condor, a huge creature that looks surreal and makes noises like Darth Vader.

Only been for the show in June. Yearly event. Informative and great to see all the birds up close. Touch an owl!

The farm is unique and structured for services of children with special needs. The area is quiet and lovely just to walk around. The farm is a great place for personal release of energy and love.

Green Chimneys is a great place to take the family! The farm is open until dusk and there are always animals to see, just recently they added Camels to the mix, plenty of parking and FREE.

Went here on a scouting event a few years back. There are lots of activities for kids including a climbing wall and team building games. There are some horses and other animals to attend to.
