devil's rock

If you are driving along route 5 and have a few moments to spare, you might like to pull up next to the New York State Department of Transportation. There you will see a mushroom-shaped rock set back from the road. (Actually it is dumbbell shaped but the bottom was covered in the 1960s.)It is, most likely, a glacial erratic shaped by weathering but there is a legend relating to the capture of the devil associated with it.I hope this isn't a spoiler but there is a geocache located here. I do orienteering so don't know exactly how geocaching works.
