We have been skiing many times but this place was the Best après ski place I have been to. Are there nicer places in Vail, yes, are there better alcohol deals yes. But if you want to drink, singalong to great music and get a little crazy this place fits the bill

This is a fun bar in Vail Village with lots of good live music... We had a small issue with a drunk patron, and when our friend complained, the owner came from his home and personally made everything right, which was nice... I highly recommend this bar and will be going back...

Phil Long, the longtime co owner of the Red Lion, has brought his band (and craziness) to Shakedown, which is just around the corner. Get there early because the bar will fill up fast and all the music you know and love will be rockin. People are dancing, singing, laughing and having fun with the band from start to finish. It's hard to explain but I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this ever! The man is an institution with a huge following...no matter where he decides to play. You won't be sorry...just a little horse from singing and sore from dancing. Bring your good attitude and a little scratch for the cover charge.

love the atmosphere although the live band started to play at 4;30 and finished at 8;30, the crowd was great, and friendly, it is a local hang out and you might fell out of place it is great fun

But seriously, when the band when on break the sound booth guy basically raced out the door to join the band in Colorado cigarettes tossing the ipod to my friend. So when my friend played some seriously awesome Fleetwood Mac yeah it kinda changed the vibe, but the bar was going off and anyone close to sealing the deal did it and started making out. But then as some uptight little bartender chick who was just frustrated she couldnt have my friend the new DJ he switched it up perfectly to some rap song and the total party vibe resumed. They they can you believe it told him he had to go??!?! so Naturally on the way out I had to have a word with the bouncers for the honor of my friend. That all being said he got back in later in the night even though he was 20 and yet somehow you all remembered my grizzly appearance well enough to keep me out. Seun McGraw I told you I was going to write this review. You were just fine but the uptight chick who seems frustrated with my friends awesomeness, she only gets 2/10 stars down...

Phil Long, co-owner of the Red Lion, has opened a very small music venue around the corner from the Red Lion. It's frequented by locals and has a very intimate atmosphere for a music venue. Phil plays all the standards that he played for years at the Red Lion .He has great rapport with the audience, doing Fireball shots with them. He performs for Happy Hour and there are drink and food specials that are a steal. The goal of the establishment is to bring a variety of live music to the heart of Vail.

We went to watch the end of the Dallas/Philly game as we saw their advertisement in the Vail paper "Sunday Night Football on the Big Screen and Great Drink Specials." Well they had no drink specials and I guess we found the big screen (32".) With about 2 minutes left in the game they asked us to move as they were moving chairs and tables around. When we moved to the other side of the room we both noticed a strong sewer smell. I'm guessing since they are in a basement there was a sewer pipe leak close by. Wouldn't care to go back there. Yuk

Just returned from a week in Vail and Shakedown is THE place for nightlife in Vail... Great music, casual, and friendly.. A must

went to this bar last year, and enjoyed watching a guy called Steve Meyers,so even though the place is not very clean and the toilets are gross, thought we would try again. They had the guy that used to belong in the Red Lion doing apres ski---and it was dreadful. and to top it all in his break they had that another guy who could not sing--a real dissapointment. found out from bar staff that Steve Meyers is playing round the corner at Underground Vail, but this was only after complaining about the evening.

This is the spot to hear live music in Colorado! 7 days a week, 365 this place rocks! The Manager Scott keeps things jamming whether he's on stage or behind the sound board! It's a must if you're in Vail looking to get loose!

Go every Friday night to listen to Steve Meyer, who starts at 6.00--to 10.00 pm. This place used to be called The Club, and has been fully refurbished this season, and at last you feel like you are in a clean place. That cannot be said of the entertainer---clean and Steve do not go hand in hand--but if you want FUN FUN FUN with a great singer songwriter, who has some really funny, rude songs along with a variety of good quality music, who the locals love, then this is a place to be. You have to be over 21, and there is a $5.00 cover charge. You can now order food, which for food in baskets is OK. Arround $8.00 for sandwiches, nachos etc. Drinks are cheap, and Corona buckets are good value--plus they serve wine, and lots of different kinds of shots. I word about shots---Steve gets people to buy the bar a drink--so free shots come round at various times. The dancing space is good, but can get crowded some nights. Joe at the bar is a very friendly helpful guy and Eric on the door is a really good fellow. There is apre' ski which Steve used to do, but we prefer the times he now plays. Be warned--once you have been, to hear Steve, you will not want to go anywhere else. Steve plays Wednesday through Saturday. Enjoy !!
