Don't ever pick this as a job if you're looking to be a ranch hand. Gary will treat you like a slave. He under pays you, talks down to you, and does not appreciate anything you do for the stables. I wouldn't even recommend volunteering here. The horses are mistreated and way overworked. You will absolutely have no life outside of this stable. Gary will seriously treat you like a slave and for what? Barely any pay. If you get ripped through a credit card good luck ever getting your tip. If you get hurt on the job it is your own fault and that's that. Gary is a worthless coward who will probably end up getting shut down for neglect. He will even treat the boarders out there like crap. It's his way or the highway. Honestly I think he's in way over his head. And he's way to full of himself. He cheats on his girlfriend who he lives with, if you see him out in public with another female he will pay for your food so you keep quiet. Don't ever work for this man. It'll be your biggest mistake.

Was going to ride horses with my husband had paid the 100.00 for the 1 1/2 hour ride. When they approached and said they were not comfortable with putting me on one of their horses even one of the bigger ones. I stand five foot two and weight 260 lbs. I know I am fat but I thought horses could carry more than that, I know texas horses and Arkansas horses can carry over three hundred lbs and it not even bother them. So if you are over weight do not go to 12 mile stables to ride cause their horses can not carry you!

The horses were sweet. The ride was decent (except that you hear the high way traffic for the majority of the ride). No water... all dried up. What I would really recommend is some more customer service skills. With the exception of Alyssa (who was pleasant and talked a little), we were barely spoken to for the majority of the ride. One of the guy ranchers rode up and did not even acknowledge that we were there. Even a "hello" would have been a appreciated. I would never recommend this place, nor would I go back. I have been on so many better rides where you felt special. This place we felt invisible most of the ride.I rated it average because I think they really care for the horses. Otherwise, probably a poor.

The people at the stable were very helpful. I haven't rode a horse in over 45 years. They picked a very nice horse for me and had steps so that I could get on. We first went an arena so they could check to see if I could control the horse. The ride through Cherry Creek park was great. I really had a great time.

I board at 12 Mile..... love it! Staff is great and caring. My horse loves it here. Not sure about comments made by others. Matt and the rest of the staff is always helpful and responsive. They set up dates for the Vet to come out and do shots and worming. That's great! I've seen them stay with other boarders and their horses if the horse is sick. I like that! Keep up the great work guys and gals! Also gotta say I really enjoy the ladies at the barn! We have a nice group to ride with ..... its great!

12 mile stables is a wonderful place to ride. I take lessons there and I adore it. All horses are safe and sweet. the trainers/trail ride leaders are kind as well and do very well on matching you up with the right horse. I would recommend doing the sunset ride. Be prepared to have your mind-blown.

We chose to go to this riding stable because it was the closest to our hotel. This stable also had something called the sunset ride, which we were intrigued by. It was $65 for the hour, which is the going rate out there. We had a really good guide named Chris, you go through a state park which is pretty during sunset. Chris kept us well-entertained along the ride. The other staff members especially Laura, were very friendly and helpful. The sunset ride was very pretty and worth the money! I would highly recommend this stable, they give you real western hospitality and a ride to remember!

We had a good ride! The horses stop to eat a lot and it's hard to stop them....even though you are told at the beginning not to let them eat....good luck with that...but for me that has ridden before used it as an opportunity to make a large gap between horses....then I galloped to catch up.....fun for me....not so for my husband behind me....as he bounced....my hip, my hip.....stinks to get old...haha....the wranglers were nice and we had fun!

The owner has cleaned up the facilities and grounds, torn down dilapidated buildings and seems to be attuned to customers

Under new ownership. This horseback trail was a perfect view of park and of the rocky mountains. Our guide was beyond helpful and had many stories about Colorado. She was very patient with we first time riders :) Can wait to revisit!

I took my two kids here (ages 7 and 10, and neither had ever been on a horse before) twice during the week we were visiting Denver. I have a little bit of riding experience, and figured I would be able to keep an eye on one of my girls, but was worried how to make sure both were safe and also having fun. From start to finish, the staff at 12 Mile took great care of my children, which meant I could sit back and enjoy the ride. The horses were well cared for and gentle, and both times we went, the wranglers kept watch over my girls. If a foot came out of a stirrup or a saddle needed adjusting, the wrangler stopped, got down from his horse, made sure the child was safe, and only then did the ride begin again. Both David and Chris at 12 Mile went above and beyond to make sure the ride was safe and fun for everyone. Beyond that, the park is gorgeous. We changed our travel plans in order to go on a second ride. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to come back!
