We called ahead to schedule to bumper cars on ice. When we arrived, everything was ready and they took us back. After receiving quick instructions, we were on our to bumping, spinning, and chasing each other around the ice. Our whole family went and had an absolutely fantastic time! The employees were all helpful and fun. Next time we are in Steamboat Springs we will definitely go back. When we go back, we will be wearing our mittens. Our fingers got a little cool.

We went here to do the on ice bumper cars. That was fun. You get about 15 minutes worth of bumper cars then you can skate for the rest of the hour. They have helmets, and skates to rent. Newbie skaters can push these 'walkers' around on the ice. Those are a good idea. But mostly the walkers were used by a couple of little kids pushing collections of metal walkers around the ice like those guys in a Safeway parking lot rounding up shopping carts. An hour after skiing is about the right amount of time, if you're not a serious skater.

Howelsen Ice Arena is a must visit in Steamboat and is open all year long. They have bumper cars and plenty of skates for skating. If you are looking to host a party this is a great place to do it! Dmitry is the event planner and couldn't be more helpful and friendly. He accommodated all kinds of requests, timing, etc and was always very pleasant.Kudos to Howelsen for a great time!

Very nice ice skating rink with assistance devices for newbie skaters. The bump cars on ice are really fun but make a reservation.

We have skated here before on trips to Steamboat but today was the first time we tried the bumper cars on ice. We hadn't made a reservation but had come for the open skate. Our 10 year old daughter really wanted to try the bumper cars so we got in the waiting list and were fortunate that another family didn't show up so we got to ride. It's a lot of fun! My 6 year old loved it too and she wants to drive her own car next time (they can be alone in the car age 5 and up). The staff were really friendly and helpful, couldn't have been nicer. $7 per adult for open skate, $16 for the bumper cars with the open skate, a bit less for the kids. And they are one of the few places we've done public skating in the US where the rental skates are actually decent. Check it out!

Great scenery if you stop and walk the grounds. Do it. Do it. Do it It only takes about a half hour.

I went skating here last winter with my fiance and saw people of all ages having fun out on the ice. Will for sure make it more this winter!

We went for a day at bumper cars on ice and the schedule was wrong so we had to go back an hour later. There were no prices any where until you sign up to go. It was $10 for only 20 minutes! Per person!!!! Also we were the 2nd round of people to go and my husband's bumper car died within 5 minutes and the guys working did nothing about it. Nice facility and a great idea but not worth the price.

We decided to try the bumper cars on ice because it just sounded so different from anything we'd done. Sessions last 15-20 minutes, which is just about right. The cars are a little hard to control but not too bad once you get the hang of it. Fun for both kids and adults. Be sure to check the schedule on-line as times are pretty limited and make reservations. There are dollar off coupons on Ice Arena flyers available all over town (including at the arena). The price was reasonable - $9 a person with the coupon - a little more if you want to combine it with skating.

Ice skating and bumpers on ice. Had a great time, the bumpers and ice skating combined was a great deal. Look for coupons. I highly recommend making reservations for bumpers, many we're turned away without them.

Although in ski town USA the romantic in me was hoping for a frozen pond experience, howlsen ice arena at least answers the call for ice skating (albeit indoors) year round. It's a cleanish facility with public skake times, lessons, and even ice bumper cars

What a blast!!! We lucked out because we didn't have reservations but I do recommend them. Grab a coupon out of the visitor book and save $1. We stayed on for 20 minutes and then another couple came and they asked if half of our party would like to stay on to play with the next group - very kind! Our hands were very cold though so don't forget your gloves!

The bumper cars on ice are an absolute blast. They let you go at it for twenty minutes, which is a long time. Call in advance to reserve though. The ice skating is fun and the skates are good quality. The employees at the ice arena are fantastic. Glad we went.
