My wife and I hiked this at sunrise. The kids stayed back in the RV and slept. It is somewhat steep on the way to lookout point with a lot of switchbacks. The trail is @ 1.5 miles each way and it is located right at the campground. It was nice for my wife and I to get a hike in by ourselves. We did not see 1 other person on this trail. The views at the top are incredible. you literally do come out to a lookout point and feel like you are on the edge of the mountain. Which in reality I guess you are.

We took 2 adults and 4 kids (ages 6-14) on this hike. The first 1/2 mile is going up at a moderate incline using switchbacks to work your way up the hill. After you get to the top of the plateau you can walk for another 1/2 mile with great views on either side. At the end there is a great view. Do be careful with small children as you end up on a plateau with a steep drop off about 10 yards from path. All our kids loved it.

Great view from the canyon and historic places, one way tour, must need a car.
