SCRT (established over 14 years ago in Trinidad by Harriet and Fred Vaugeois - theater, acting, directing, and teaching veterans) offers year-round theater in their new, historic main street location - right off Highway 25. Their productions are at the highest level - with a rotating team of actors, some having won CO and national awards, who bring comedy, musicals, and dramas to life in an intimate theater setting. Their summer youth theater program has also been recognized for the highest quality. In the summer, they rotate through at least 3 shows allowing a person to see at least two and sometimes all 3 on a weekend - we saw Oklahoma (outstanding) and an hysterical British farce in August. Nearly all shows I've seen in 10+ years were family friendly too. Music Man this summer! Currently they have a production of Dixie Swim Club - a very well received comedy. Trinidad residents fill many positions, stage design, lighting - etc..and volunteers sell wine, drinks, etc...with a space to mingle and meet people before the show. A superb weekend would include two SCRT shows - breakfast at Buenos down the street, fly fishing in their Trout Unlimited designed stream, play time for kids at the city's award winning skateboard and water park and fossil and dinosaur footprint hunting/hiking in the region (Picket Wire Canyon). A superb theater -- what a gift to the arts and this community.

Went to another performance of the Southern Colorado Repertory Theatre (SCRT) last weekend. Saw "Broadway Bound". It was a outstanding performance of a Classical production. This is getting to be a habit for both myself and wife. It was a pleasure to see and we will be back again

I walked in with my friend because she was thinking about maybe, possibly auditioning for an upcoming play. We were met by one of the women working there who was very kind. Both women working were very welcoming and encouraging. They wanted me to audition for the play too, and when I said I lived elsewhere, they encouraged me to move to Trinidad! They explained the theater does three productions featuring professional actors each summer. In the fall, there is a production featuring community members. One of the women even took us into the theater (which looked very clean and comfortable) to show us photos from the plays from this past summer.Ok, so I did not see a play here, but the women working here are some of the friendliest and most helpful in Trinidad. I would like to see a play here, and I will, if I'm ever back here at the right time with money in my pocket.

Great theater productions for a small town. The theater is very accommodating and the sound travels well without the assistance of speaker audio systems. Not a bad seat in the house. Some of the productions a little bit pricey.

Stopped in the small town of Trinidad, found a theater on Main street. What a delight, never in a hundred years would I suspect to see such talent. It was the high light on our trip. We will go back again. In fact we will plan our next trip to include a stop in this town.to see what is playing.

A great show from the SCRT's Youth Company. The atmosphere inside the theatre takes you back in time.

This is a wonderful theatre. They have super local talent and during the summer they bring in the professionals. Plays are always fun. Wonderful thing for such a small town.

Saw "25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" and it was fun. Casts are mostly non-unon and from out of town, tho' the townies involved are at the same professional level. Apparently they do 3 shows a summer in repertory and if the other 2 were at least as good as 'Spelling Bee,' you're in for a good evening of theater
